‘KPop Demon Hunters’ was Netflix’s most watched title in second half of 2025
‘KPop Demon Hunters’ scores 482 million views to end 2025
The big reveals for Netflix on Tuesday didn’t stop with the company’s fourth quarter 2025 earnings results. The company also published its latest What We Watched report, which measures viewership for the entire Netflix catalog across the final six months of 2025. The report shows “KPop Demon Hunters” setting new records for the streamer, as well as the continued success of some of its most popular titles.
Key Details:
- New record: “KPop Demon Hunters” compiled 482 million views in the second half of 2025, setting records for Netflix.
- Popularity contest: “Wednesday” and “Stranger Things” were the most-watched TV shows on the service.
- Steady rise: Viewing hours were up from 94 billion in the second half of 2024 to 96 billion in 2025.
As revealed by Netflix, “KPop Demon Hunters” set a new record for the most-watched title over six months in the streamer’s history. The movie attracted 482 million views in that span, and the companion “KPop Demon Hunters Lyric Videos” added another 32 million views.
“KPop Demon Hunters” became a global sensation for Netflix after debuting on the streamer in June, and even got a limited theatrical run in August once Netflix was convinced of the movie’s potential. It could be a heavy contender for Best Animated Feature during awards season.
“Happy Gilmore 2” was another hit for Netflix in the second half of the year, despite its unpopularity with critics. The long-awaited sequel amassed 135 million views in the final six months of 2025, demonstrating that passion for the character’s return among fans held strong over the years.
Turning to the TV side of Netflix, some fairly predictable titles vaulted to the top of the service’s listings. “Wednesday” Season 2 was the most-watched show in the second half of the year for Netflix, with 124 million views. Season 1 of the series ranked eighth among all TV shows in the half, with 47 million views.
The fifth season of “Stranger Things” drew plenty of viewing hours as well, accounting for 94 million views despite the first half of the season not being released until Nov. 26. Combined, all five seasons of the show added up to 275 million views in the last six months of 2025, as audiences binged through earlier episodes to prepare for the finale.
In all, Netflix says it drew 96 billion viewing hours in the final half of last year — up 2 billion hours from the second half of 2024. The streamer will look to continue improving its engagement year over year, and having a strong library fronted by record-setting originals will help it continue to achieve that goal.
