Is Spy Comedy ‘Argylle’ Available to Stream? When Will Film Allegedly Based on Taylor Swift Book Arriving on Apple TV+?

Rumors about “Argylle” have been flying thanks to its unique marketing campaign, but when will it be available to stream from home?

The entire internet seems to be fully absorbed in the question “Who is Ellie Conway?” Conway wrote “Argylle,” the book which has supposedly inspired a movie of the same name which debuts in theaters on Friday, Feb. 2 in the United States. Swifties are convinced that Conway is really a pen name for global superstar Taylor Swift, but the mystery of Ellie Conway’s true identity could be as simple as a clever marketing campaign by the film’s producers.

  • “Argylle” is the new spy comedy film from Universal and Apple Original Films.
  • The movie is rumored to be based on a novel written by Taylor Swift using a pen name.
  • “Argylle” will stream on Apple TV+ when it leaves theaters, and The Streamable will give you our best guess of when that might be.

“Argylle” centers on Elly Conway the character, a reclusive author of a thrilling spy novel series. She soon becomes wrapped up in the same type of exciting, dangerous adventures that fill the pages of her books, and the true reason for her seemingly eerie knowledge of future events is a more explosive secret than even Elly could have imagined in her writing.

The movie has a large ensemble cast, including Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson. That list of performers on its own should be enough to convince viewers to give “Argylle” a try, though some may be scared off by the movie’s 35% Rotten Tomatoes score.

When Can You Stream ‘Argylle’ From Home?

Whether or not the “Argylle” novel was really written by Taylor Swift (it wasn’t), fans might not be too eager to sit through the film’s 2 hour, 19 minute runtime in the theater without being able to pause at some point, whether that be for a bathroom break or to scroll the internet looking for evidence of Swift’s involvement.

Fortunately, the oft-asked question of where the movie will stream once it leaves theaters has already been answered. “Argylle” will stream on Apple TV+, as that streamer secured its rights and the rights to future sequels for $200 million in 2021.

Just when audiences will be able to watch “Argylle” on Apple TV+ is another question. The streamer has been difficult to nail down with its theatrical windowing strategy; “Killers of the Flower Moon” took 84 days to reach Apple TV+ after its trip through theaters, though it’s a possibility Apple released it earlier than normal because the film is expected to be a serious contender for the Academy Award for Best Picture. “Killers” was released to streaming on Jan. 12, just days before the Oscars nominations were announced.

“Argylle” is not expected to be a competitor at awards shows thus far, and it seems safe to assume that Apple will keep it in theaters for less time than “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Ultimately, we predict “Argylle” will stream on Apple TV+ on Thursday, April 11, which is 70 days from its initial release point.
