Official: Max, Netflix Bundle to Go on Sale for Verizon myPlan Customers on Dec. 7

The bundle will cost $10 per month, and will feature ad-supported plans of both streaming services.

As a third-party provider with no streaming service of its own, Verizon gets instant credibility from streaming operators when it comes to aggregating their services with each other. Verizon’s +play platform is a fantastic streaming aggregator, where customers can subscribe to their services in one place and pay for them all on a single bill. Now, Verizon is taking its streaming aggregation efforts one step further as the mobile carrier will begin offering a discounted bundle of Netflix and Max later this week.

  • Verizon will officially begin offering a bundle of Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery’s streamer Max on Dec. 7.
  • The bundle will be available only to Verizon myPlan customers and will cost $10 per month, a $16.99 monthly value.
  • Paramount and Apple are also reportedly discussing offering a bundle of their two streaming services.

What Are the Details of New Max, Netflix Bundle?

The bundle of ad-supported Netflix and Max which is about to go on sale Dec. 7 was first reported last month. It will include ad-supported plans for both streamers, which separately would cost $16.99 per month. That means Verizon myPlan users who want to sign up for the bundle will save 41% over the standard retail price.

The pairing will mark the second streaming bundle available from Verizon, which also offers customers the chance to sign up for the Disney Bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. That bundle, however, is not exclusive to Verizon, whereas the Max/Netflix bundle is.

This bundle marks a new expansion of the relationship between Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery. The two sides have a current licensing deal that’s allowing HBO original shows to stream on Netflix, and both companies have expressed satisfaction with that deal.

Is Bundling to Become More Common?

As of now, it appears there’s no slowing the trend of streaming services coming together in bundles. Bundling helps users think of the streaming platforms involved as a better value than individual streaming platforms, thus helping to reduce churn.

These inexpensive bundles work primarily because they’re comprised of ad-supported streaming tiers. Plans with ads provide streamers significantly more average revenue per user (ARPU) than ad-free plans do, so even with a discounted bundle price providers come out ahead. Netflix saw its ad-supported streaming tier build momentum slowly this year, until the third quarter when it accounted for around 30% of total new subscriptions to the service.

A report surfaced last week that Apple TV+ and Paramount+ may soon be available in a bundle as well. Apple and Paramount are allegedly in the midst of preliminary discussions to offer their streamers together in some form, though there are few details available and the bundle still may never come to fruition.

Observers are likely hoping that the bundle will be available on a larger scale than the new Netflix and Max version, which is only available for Verizon myPlan users. Customers of that plan will be able to subscribe to the new bundle as of Thursday, Dec. 7.
