Pac-12 Announces Deal with The CW to Broadcast Oregon State, Washington State Football Games in 2024
Pac-12 Announces Deal with The CW to Broadcast Oregon State, Washington State Football Games in 2024
The Pac-12 will join football and basketball from the ACC, LIV Golf tournaments and NASCAR races on The CW.
The Oregon State Beavers and Washington State Cougars may have been abandoned by their former Pac-12 compatriots, but they’re not ready to declare the 2024 season a wash as far as broadcasting goes. The two teams won’t see any games broadcast on Pac-12 Network, as that channel is likely to be shut down this summer. But on Tuesday, the two schools still remaining in the Pac-12 announced that they had agreed to terms on a deal with The CW to broadcast some of their games throughout the 2024 season.
Key Details:
- Oregon State and Washington State will play a total of 11 games on The CW in 2024.
- The CW is a free, over-the-air network with a growing range of sports rights.
- Viewers can watch The CW on one of four live TV streaming services: DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV.
The CW will serve as home to 11 total Oregon State and Washington State home games throughout the fall. The season will start on Saturday, Aug. 31 with a doubleheader in which both teams will be in action, and games on The CW will continue until Saturday, Nov. 30.
“We are thrilled to announce this national partnership with The CW,” newly named Pac-12 Commissioner Teresa Gould said. “Oregon State and Washington State football student-athletes deserve this elite stage as they continue competing for the College Football Playoff, and Beaver and Cougar fans have a great opportunity to enjoy their teams’ successes.”
A deal between the Pac-12 and The CW was first discussed in late March, and now it has officially come to fruition. The deal provides both schools with a national audience for their games, something that few other outlets were likely to offer in the wake of the collapse of the conference.
“Adding the Pac-12 conference to The CW’s growing roster of live sports gives the network coast-to-coast coverage in key markets and solidifies our position as a national player in college sports,” The CW president Dennis Miller said. “The CW will truly be a destination for all sports fans this fall with impressive weekend lineups consisting of Pac-12 football, ACC football, LIV Golf, and NASCAR Xfinity Series playoff races.”
The disintegration of the Pac-12 began in 2022 when USC and UCLA announced that they were departing for the greener pastures of the Big Ten. The two California schools were huge revenue generators for the conference, and after their announced departure it became more and more difficult for the Pac-12 to find a new broadcast partner. The conference was tantalizingly close to a pact with Apple in August 2023, but some of its member schools saw that they could make more money in the long term as members of other conferences, leading to a sudden, violent implosion of the once-formidable West Coast league.

What Other Sports Will Be Available on The CW This Fall?

In April, NASCAR announced that it would send the final eight races of the 2024 Xfinity Series season to air on The CW. The channel was set to add the Xfinity Series starting in 2025, but the shift means they’ll be available this fall.
In July 2023, The CW also acquired the rights to air some ACC football and basketball games. Those games will be back on the channel this year, augmenting Oregon State and Washington State football contests on The CW to make for an impressive array of college sports events.
LIV Golf tournaments are also available on The CW and stream free on the CW app. It’s not yet confirmed that Oregon State and Washington State football will stream on the app when those games air on the linear CW, or if the two schools will try to sell national streaming rights to another outlet.
