Pac-12 seals media rights deals for 2025 football games
Pac-12 seals media rights deals for 2025 football games
Oregon State and Washington State will play a combined 13 home games on national TV this season.
The 2025 college football season is still months away, but the Pac-12 didn’t have much more time available to it to craft a media rights deal for the upcoming campaign. The Oregon State Beavers and Washington State Cougars are playing one more season as the only two teams in the conference, and according to Sports Business Journal have reportedly agreed to a broadcast deal with three major networks for the year.
Key Details:
- Splitting up games: Oregon State and Washington State will play on The CW, CBS, and ESPN this year.
- More streaming options: Games will be available on Paramount+ and the new ESPN streamer Flagship.
- Stopgap deal: The Pac-12 rights package will be much stronger in 2026, when the conference will add at least six teams.
As previously reported, Oregon State and Washington State will play most of their home football games on The CW this season. Nine of their combined 13 home games will be on that channel, with the remaining four split evenly between CBS and ESPN. This deal will cover only the 2025 season, which means Pac-12 rights head back to the open market in 2026.
There will be more streaming options for the Pac-12 this year, as well. Oregon State and Washington State will play each other twice this season, and the first matchup on Nov. 1 will be available to watch on both CBS and Paramount+. The Apple Cup between Washington and Washington State will also stream on Paramount+ concurrently with its CBS broadcast.
Both games appearing on ESPN this year will be available to stream on the new service currently known as Flagship (it’s unclear what ESPN will be calling the service once it’s available to the public). This streamer will launch some time before the 2025 football season and will carry all sports shown on linear ESPN channels.
This is the final year in which the Pac-12 will be comprised of only two teams. At least six more schools will join the conference starting in 2026, which will make its media rights deal next year much larger than the current agreement. If the Pac-12’s current partners see good ratings for their games this year, they may well decide to pony up more for the expanded conference’s rights in 2026.
