Paramount+ secures rights to UEFA Women’s Champions League
Starting this year, Paramount+ will stream all 75 matches of the prestigious European club soccer tournament.
Both the men’s and women’s editions of the UEFA Champions League club soccer tournament are now streaming on the same platform. CBS Sports announced on Saturday that it had acquired the rights to the UEFA Women’s Champions League, building out its soccer rights portfolio even further for customers of its streamer Paramount+.
Key Details:
- Coming soon: Paramount+ will take over streaming rights for the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2025..
- Multi-year deal: The Women’s Champions League will stay with Paramount+ until 2030.
- Add it to the list: Paramount+ recently added World Rugby matches as well.
Paramount+ will take over streaming rights for the UEFA Women’s Champions League starting with the 2025-26 season. All 75 matches of the tournament will stream on Paramount+ each year, and select matches will also air on CBS Sports Network and the free Golazo Network streaming channel.
American audiences will now have to turn to Paramount+ to see the new format for the UEFA Women’s Champions League, with 18 clubs playing in the initial phase of the tournament, as well as a newly added knockout phase in the playoffs.
“The UEFA Women’s Champions League with its world class players and elite clubs adds tremendous value to CBS Sports’ premium soccer portfolio,” EVP at CBS Sports Dan Weinberg said. “CBS Sports is proud to be the home of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and all men’s UEFA club competitions through the end of the decade, further solidifying Paramount+ as the premier and must-have destination for soccer fans.”
The deal unifies both the men’s and women’s UEFA Champions League tournaments under the same roof until the 2029-2030 seasons. Paramount+ streams a wide selection of other soccer matches, including the English Football League, Italy’s Serie A, and some National Women’s Soccer League games as well.
“We are delighted to expand our partnership with CBS Sports, bringing the UEFA Women’s Champions League alongside the UEFA men’s club competitions,” UC3 managing director Guy-Laurent Epstein said. “As the competition embarks on an exciting new era, we look forward to CBS Sports delivering its dynamic and insightful coverage to American audiences, showcasing the highest level of women’s club football in its new format over the next five seasons.”
Paramount+ is continuing to build its inventory of live sports. In late May, the streamer announced a deal to acquire rights to World Rugby matches. Customers can subscribe to Paramount+ for as little as $8 per month, but an upgrade to the ad-free Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan unlocks even more sports with its live stream of local CBS stations.
