Prime Video begins streaming ‘The Apprentice’ reality show
If his second term as president isn’t giving you the amount of Trump TV time that you would like, Prime Video has some great news for you. The streaming service has announced that as of Monday, March 10, it will begin adding seasons of the 2004 reality series “The Apprentice.” Despite the fact that the competition show originally aired on NBC, due to the title’s ownership, it is not currently available to stream on Peacock.
Key Details:
- Season 1 of “The Apprentice” became available to stream on Prime Video on March 10.
- Subsequent seasons will roll out each week until April 27.
- MGM owned the rights to “The Apprentice,” and Amazon bought that studio in 2022.
Season 1 of “The Apprentice” is available to all Prime Video subscribers now. The series is considered by many to be a big reason that Donald Trump went from being a real estate mogul to an omnipresent figure in pop culture and a household name, serving as a launching pad for his subsequent elections to the presidency.
In the coming weeks, Prime Video will eventually stream all seven of the Trump-led seasons of “The Apprentice.” New seasons of the show will roll out each week between now and Monday, April 27, and Prime Video will drop full seasons at a time instead of going episode by episode.
“’The Apprentice’ is one of the best shows that I ever produced,” the show’s creator Mark Burnett said. “The charismatic onscreen presence of President Donald J. Trump made it a bona fide hit. Now, thanks to Prime Video, a whole new audience will experience a new season every Monday. This show is a love letter to New York City. Survivor grew an entirely new massive audience as a result of old seasons being binged during the pandemic. On Monday, March 10, this same phenomenon will begin again… with ‘The Apprentice’.”
The show originally aired on NBC, which may lead some to think that it would be available to stream on NBCUniversal’s service Peacock as well. But the show’s rights are actually owned by MGM, and Amazon acquired MGM for $8.5 billion in 2022.
“I look forward to watching this show myself — such great memories, and so much fun, but most importantly, it was a learning experience for all of us,” said Trump.
This is not the only new project from the Trump world that Amazon is bringing to its streaming service. In January, it was reported that the tech company had paid over $40 million for the rights to a centering on First Lady Melania Trump. The documentary will be directed by Brett Ratner. It will serve as his first directorial project since 2017 following accusations of sexual misconduct. The first lady has said that the documentary will chronicle her life, but there is no information yet as to when the project will arrive on Prime Video.
