Prime Video announces featues for NBA broadcasts in 2025
Fans will be able to watch NBA games with bet tracking, multiview, and more with Prime Video this season.
Amazon is getting set to begin its first season as an NBA broadcast partner, and it’s got some great enhancements for fans coming over the course of the year. The streamer announced more details about the features fans can expect to see with NBA broadcasts this season, including multiview, AI-driven facets, and more.
Key Details:
- Wanna bet?: Personalized bet tracking with FanDuel will be available alongside NBA games.
- Multi-game madness: Customizable multiview will be available to customers who subscribe to Prime Video and NBA League Pass.
- Not artificial fun:AI will help deliver Key Moments and Rapid Recaps to help engage viewers.
Prime Video begins broadcasting NBA games in late October, and the streaming service wants to deploy all of its best tech to help fans have a premium viewing experience. That will start with betting integrations for fans who choose to wager on games; Prime Video will offer an opt-in, personalized bet tracking feature in partnership with FanDuel that will let fans link their profile to their FanDuel account and keep an eye on their bets throughout a game. Real-time progress will be displayed on the screen, keeping fans up-to-date when their bet cashes.
A fully customizable multiview is also coming to Prime Video across most devices — but there’s a catch. Viewers have to be signed up for both Prime Video and NBA League Pass through the Prime Video Subscriptions page to use it. That does make sense from the aspect that Prime Video itself will only ever be offering one game at a time anyway, but viewers with a League Pass subscription can watch that game alongside out-of-market contests they get with a subscription to that service.
Prime Video’s multiview will let fans with NBA League Pass watch up to four games at once on the platform.
Artificial intelligence will lend a big hand to helping NBA fans get the most out of their watching experience on Prime Video. AI will run through game highlights to identify the most important for its Key Moments playlist, which will help fans see the biggest dunks or three-point snipes in a game. AI will also be used in the Rapid Recap feature, which creates a highlight reel of important plays to allow viewers who join in the middle of a stream to catch up.
Viewers will also be able to see box score stats, shop for merchandise, and enjoy low-latency streams on Prime Video, as well as enjoy analysis and other shoulder programming — not to mention the list of experts the streamer has attracted to call and break down games. The streamer’s coverage of the NBA begins on Friday, Oct 24.
Prime Video Sports head Jay Marine said:
“Since Day 1, we’ve challenged ourselves to invent features that heighten, customize and add storytelling elements for fans within the live sports experience. As we tip off this long-term relationship with the NBA, we’re excited to launch a best-in-class bet tracking experience with FanDuel, as well as a wide-ranging suite of broadcast innovations to enhance Prime Video’s comprehensive NBA offerings. As we’ve demonstrated through our coverage of Thursday Night Football and NASCAR, our innovation teams are continuously raising the bar and exploring what is possible within our produced coverage and add-on subscriptions.”
