Savannah Bananas, ESPN ink largest broadcast deal in team’s history
The worldwide leader in sports is doubling the number of Banana Ball games that it will broadcast in 2026.
The Savannah Bananas are set to bring their unique style of baseball shenanigans to an even wider audience, as ESPN has announced that the worldwide leader in sports will be broadcasting 25 games throughout the 2026 season from February through August. This is the largest broadcast deal in the traveling baseball circus’ history, more than doubling the number of games that ESPN aired last year.
Key Details:
- Twice the fun: ESPN will double the number of Banana Ball games it will air in 2026.
- More ways to watch:Games will air on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and Disney+, and every game will stream on the ESPN App.
- Bringing them home: Disney will also welcome Banana Ball to its parks and HQs around the country.
Every single game that is a part of the deal will be streamed on the new ESPN streaming service, with many airing on ESPN, ESPN2, Disney+, and even ABC. The Sunday, June 28 game at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon — the home of the Oregon Ducks — will be the Bananas’ first-ever ABC network telecast.
“We are fired up to be teaming up with ESPN with our biggest partnership to date,” Bananas owner Jesse Cole said. “Banana Ball has grown massively on the platform over the past few years. Now, as we launch the Banana Ball Championship League with six teams and sold out shows all over the country, we couldn’t imagine a better partnership to grow the game.”
In addition to the Bananas, the new Banana Ball Championship League will feature the Party Animals, Firefighters, Texas Tailgaters, Loco Beach Coconuts, and Indianapolis Clowns. All BBCL games will play under Banana Ball rules, which include highlights like games are played with a two-hour time limit and won by winning innings, not by how many runs are scored. Bunts result in automatic ejections, foul balls caught by fans are outs, the Golden Batter Rule, Equalizer Point, and more.
ESPN has been partnering with the Bananas for the past five years, including on the docuseries “Bananaland,” which premiered in 2022. Since then, as the team’s infectious brand of baseball has taken social media and sports fans by storm, Disney and ESPN have gradually increased their partnership with the team.
In 2025, ESPN broadcast 12 Banana Ball games, and in 2026, that will jump to 25. But that is not where the collaboration ends. In addition, Banana Ball will be visiting a number of Disney properties throughout the year, including playing a game at Disney World in May.
On March 26, two days before they play at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, the Bananas will celebrate Savannah Bananas Day at Disneyland Resort. Then, on May 29, the Party Animals and Coconuts will play a Banana Ball game at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Disney World. Then on July 23, the Party Animals and Clowns will play at Dunkin’ Park in Hartford, Connecticut, just a few miles from ESPN’s headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut. The network says that the event “underscores ESPN’s continued focus on delivering live experiences that blend sports and entertainment.”
“This expanded agreement reflects the incredible growth and fan demand surrounding Banana Ball,” ESPN VP Brent Colborne said. “From iconic football stadiums to classic ballparks, these events showcase the energy and creativity fans love, delivered with the full reach and flexibility of ESPN, Disney+, and ABC.”
