The Rockies were historically bad in 2025, finishing 43-119 — plenty bad enough for last place in the NL West. At -424, the team’s run differential was the lowest since the 1899 Cleveland Spiders. They also became the first team in the 21st century to allow more than 1,000 runs in a single season. In other words, the 2025 Colorado Rockies season could redefine the term “futility.”

The team didn’t try to make any splashy free agent signings or trades in 2025. New pitchers Michael Lorenzen, Jose Quintana, and Tomoyuki Sugano will help the team try to refresh its rotation, but the team is hoping more for improvements from young players in their farm system as opposed to big contributions from new additions.
