Key details on ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 release emerge

Key details on ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 release emerge

As expected, ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 seems destined to be released in two separate batches.

Stranger Things Season 5 could be headed to screens in November, and is likely to be split in two parts.

The tantalizing wait for Season 5 of “Stranger Things” could finally be coming to an end. A new report from What's On Netflix offers several new details about the final season of Netflix’s nostalgic sci-fi series, including when viewers might be able to stream it for themselves, and whether or not the new season will come out all at once as most Netflix TV seasons do, or if it will be split into two batches of episodes.

Key Details:

  • What’s On Netflix reports that “Stranger Things” Season 5 will be a split release, coming out in two batches.
  • The show could be slated for releases in October and November.
  • Season 5 was reportedly filmed from January through December 2024.

The reporting from What’s On Netflix says that the streamer will follow the pattern set by the show’s fourth season, and will release Season 5 in two batches. Plans could still change, however, and nothing is official until Netflix makes an announcement for itself.

Last week, WON also reported that some “Stranger Things” fan accounts stumbled upon lines of code suggesting Netflix would release a batch of episodes on November 27. This would allow Netflix to capture audience attention around Thanksgiving weekend, a key time to hook audiences with a new release. It would also allow the streamer to capitalize on “Stranger Things” Day, Nov. 6. That’s the in-show date when Will first went missing in Season 1.

The Nov. 27 release could be intended to point to the second batch of episodes, as WON is now reporting that the first group could be released in October. That would certainly align with Spooky Season quite well, which makes it all the more compelling to consider as a possible release date. Once again, until Netflix makes an official announcement about the show’s return, these details should be considered fluid. Plenty could change, but Netflix is expected to roll out its promotional campaign for the last season of “Stranger Things” soon.

Why has it taken so long to get any news about the new season of “Stranger Things”? Reportedly, the show was filmed between January and December 2024, which means it’s just now entering the post-production phase. That phase could take several more months, as “Stranger Things” is typically laden with a large amount of special effects.

Until Netflix begins its official marketing campaign for “Stranger Things” Season 5, fans won’t officially know whether these details are accurate. There’s a good chance that the show will come back in late fall, however, and when it does it will come out in two batches of episodes.
