Can you stream ‘Queen of the Ring’ now?

The film follows the dramatic life of female wrestler Mildred Burke.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.
We examine when we think 'Queen of the Ring' will stream on PVOD platforms like Prime Video

Today, women’s wrestling garners huge audiences for promotions like WWE and AEW. But there was once a time when women’s participation in such sports was against the law. “Queen of the Ring,” which premieres in theaters on Friday, March 7 tells the story of one woman who refused to take no for an answer, and we’ll let you know when we think it’ll be streaming at home below.

Key Details:

  • “Queen of the Ring” is racking up good reviews from critics.
  • The movie is being distributed by Sumerian Pictures, which makes its streaming home difficult to predict.
  • Prime Video and other premium rental platforms will likely get the movie in the next three weeks or so.

“Queen of the Ring” tells the true story of Mildred Burke, a woman who defied the law and social norms to do what she thought was right. In an age when pro wrestling was illegal for women to participate in, Mildred persevered by refusing to exit the ring, and became the first million-dollar female athlete in history.

The film is already being warmly received by critics, and has reached a score of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes. It stars Emily Bett Rickards, Josh Lucas, and Walton Goggins.

When will ‘Queen of the Ring’ be available to stream?

“Queen of the Ring” is being distributed by Sumerian Pictures, which does not have a long track record to help determine where its movies go once they’re ready to stream at home. Its 2023 horror fantasy “Divinity” is on Shudder currently, and its series “Paradise City” is on Peacock, Prime Video, and Tubi.

We can at least predict when you will be able to watch “Queen of the Ring” on Prime Video and other premium video-on-demand (PVOD) platforms that let you rent movies which are still in theaters. The wait for movies to arrive on PVOD sites is usually very short, because studios still make money off films that are rented or purchased digitally; these windows typically only last two to three weeks. I don’t expect “Queen of the Ring” to break that pattern.

I’ll say that “Queen of the Ring” will be available on Prime Video as early as Friday, March 28 and predict that Peacock will become the on-demand streaming home of the movie when it’s no longer a PVOD exclusive. However, I wouldn’t expect it to land there before May 16, a full 70 days after its initial release.
