Just how much have streaming prices risen since 2022?
New data from Antenna has insights into the true cost increases streamers have enacted in recent years.
Stream-flation has left no home untouched. From Netflix to Disney+ to Paramount+, almost every major streaming service in the American marketplace has raised prices since 2022, many of them more than once. New data from Antenna is offering insights into just how much streaming prices have risen, and how it has impacted streaming subscriptions over the past three years.
Key Details:
- The average price of ad-free streaming plans has risen by $3 per month since 2022.
- Cost of ad-supported streamers has jumped by $1.50.
- Net streaming additions have stabilized over the last year, showing viewers aren’t canceling because of price hikes.

Antenna’s numbers show that the price of ad-free streaming plans has risen by 22.8% between the end of 2022 and the end of 2024. That translates to a rise from $11 per month for the average ad-free streaming plan to $14; Netflix, Max, Disney+, and Hulu have all raised their ad-free plans to a price of more than $15 per month, helping to skew the average upward.
Ad-supported prices have jumped by an even larger percentage since the end of 2022, rising by 24.5% across the industry. By the end of 2024, the average price for an ad-supported streaming plan was $7.50, $1.50 more than it was at the conclusion of 2022.
But have these price increases led to fewer customers seeking out new streaming services? Signs point to no, according to Antenna’s numbers. Over the course of 2024, streaming services added 26.5 million net new customers. That’s fewer than the 28.5 million net ads in 2023, but net ads fell by more than 8 million between 2022 and 2023; in other words, people are leaving streaming permanently at a slower and slower rate, despite price increases.
The average churn rate has begun to stabilize as well. Antenna measured that the average churn rate across streamers was down year-over-year for each of the final three months of 2024, after rising for 19 of the previous 21 months. Weighted churn rate at the end of 2024 ended at 5%.
The Streamable doesn’t anticipate streaming services to hike prices in 2025 at the same breakneck pace that they did in 2024, but Antenna’s data shows that for all the complaints, customers aren’t leaving streaming behind as a result of price increases. How much more room do streamers have to increase rates before they lose customers forever? We’re likely to find out in the next few years, as streaming providers continue to chase enhanced profits.
