Which streaming services are likely to increase prices in 2025?
In 2024, nearly every major streaming service raised subscription rates. Who will do so in 2025?
Almost regardless of which service you subscribe to, streaming got more expensive in 2024. Nearly every service raised prices at some point over the course of the year, and with most still struggling to achieve regular profitability, there will undoubtedly be more to come in 2025. No streamer is going to simply pack it in without trying to get the most out of its customers, and streamflation is likely to continue in the new year. Find out which streamers we think are most likely to raise prices in 2025 below!
Which streamers are raising prices in 2025?
On-demand streaming services likely to raise prices in 2025
Netflix
More than once in the past year, Netflix has espoused a philosophy of not raising prices unless it was increasing value for subscribers. The company’s growing array of live sporting events now includes live comedy specials, reality shows, boxing matches, and NFL games, and soon “WWE Raw” will begin streaming live on the service each and every week. I think that will give the company plenty of room to raise rates in 2025, though I think it will most likely keep increases to a modest $1 to $2 per month.
Likely to raise prices in 2025? Yes
Apple TV+
Apple TV+ was essentially the only major streaming service other than Netflix not to raise prices in 2024. It did so in each of the two preceding years, however, and I think considering how expensive ad-free plans on other streamers have gotten in the past few months, Apple TV+ will be raising rates in 2025. That may be accompanied by the launch of a less-expensive ad-supported plan as well, since Apple TV+ is the only top service left not to offer one.
Likely to raise prices in 2025? Yes
Prime Video
Prime Video didn’t raise prices on its existing plan in 2024, though it did take the unusual step of making that plan ad-supported while rolling out a higher-priced tier without ads in January. Based on hints from the company, I doubt if Prime Video is profitable on its own quite yet, and I think the company will likely raise subscription rates to get it there before 2026.

On-demand streaming services unlikely to raise prices in 2025
Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+
Surely, it can’t happen four years in a row, can it? Disney raised prices on its individual streamers and most bundle options again in 2024, and I think it will give consumers a break in 2025. It will be launching a new streaming product in the ESPN Flagship service, which will certainly have bundle options of its own. I think Disney will be satisfied with that new revenue stream for at least the next year and will leave Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ priced as they are.
Likely to raise prices in 2024? No
Max
Max is a little trickier to nail down in this exercise. It raised prices on its ad-free plans over the summer, and I think it will likely be satisfied with that pricing schedule through 2025. However, the streamer is likely to start charging for its Bleacher Report Sports add-on at some point this year, which will end up costing viewers an extra $10 per month to stream sports otherwise airing on TBS, TNT, and truTV, as well as streaming exclusives.
However, I think its streaming plans themselves will probably stay at the same rate. That being said, Warner Bros. Discovery is undoubtedly a company in flux. There are near-constant rumors of mergers and acquisitions, and with the lose of NBA rights on TNT, WBD could lose significant revenue on carriage rights. So, the uncertainty surrounding David Zaslav’s company could result in yet another price hike.
Likely to raise prices in 2025? No… I think
Paramount+
There are two reasons that I think Paramount+ skips a price increase in 2025. First, it raised prices on both plans in 2024, and typically it doesn’t raise rates at the same clip as Disney does. Second, its parent company is merging with Skydance Media, which I believe will want to pause and take stock of Paramount+ as an asset before deciding to raise prices on the service.
Likely to raise prices in 2025? No
Peacock
Peacock has raised its subscription prices each of the past two years, so I think it may decide to lay off in 2025. The X-factor here, however, is the addition of live NBA games in the fall. That might give the streamer both incentive (thanks to big rights fee payments) and cover to increase its price for a third year in a row. I’m still leaning toward it remaining the same price throughout 2025, but this is one I don’t feel confident about.

Live TV streaming services likely to raise price in 2025
DIRECTV STREAM
With new, smaller channel packages likely coming to DIRECTV STREAM in 2025, I think the company will see ample reason to raise rates on its larger plans. DIRECTV has Disney's blessing to begin crafting genre-specific plans, and those lower-priced options could give the service an excuse to hike rates on its bigger ones.
Likely to raise prices in 2025? Yes
Fubo
Fubo is always tinkering around with its channel packages, and I would be surprised if the streamer didn’t roll out a more expensive option than it currently offers sometime in 2025. That would balance out the service’s new Essential plan, an offering that doesn’t force customers to receive regional sports networks or pay the associated fee, finally putting its base plan in line with the prices of its major competitors.

Live TV streaming services unlikely to raise prices in 2025
Hulu + Live TV
Traditionally, Disney raises prices on all of its streamers in one fell swoop, so if my prediction about its on-demand streamers staying at the same rate is borne out, Hulu + Live TV will almost certainly stay at the same price as well.
Likely to raise prices in 2025? No
Philo
Philo is pretty deliberate with its price increases, and traditionally doesn’t increase its rates unless it adds new content, as it did earlier this year. Philo jumped from $25 to $28 per month when it added AMC+ content in May, and I think it will stand pat and see what rewards that brings in the new year.
Likely to raise prices in 2025? No
Sling TV
In December 2024, Sling TV raised the price of its base plans for the first time since March 2023. Since there was more than a year between the last two price increases on the service, I think subscribers will be safe until at least 2026.
Likely to raise prices in 2025? No
YouTube TV
In December 2024, YouTube TV rolled out a substantial price increase for new subscribers, which will take effect for existing subscribers in January. Like Sling TV, I think YouTube TV will give its latest price hike some breathing room, and will wait at least a year before boosting its rates yet again.
