NASCAR ratings on Prime Video approach linear TV levels

NASCAR races are available on Prime Video for the first time in 2025. Never before has a NASCAR Cup Series race been offered exclusively on a streaming platform, and analysts have been eagerly awaiting the initial ratings data for the May 25 running of the Coca-Cola 600, the first race to air there.

Prime Video drew around 2.6 million viewers for the race, which is just about equal to what Cup Series races average on cable channels like FS1 or USA Network. Prime Video also attracted an audience six years younger than NASAR’s linear viewership, on average.

Paramount offers Trump a settlement to end lawsuit

Paramount Global is still trying to complete a merger with Skydance Media, but approval of the deal from federal regulators has not been forthcoming. The Trump administration has not signed off on the deal, and Trump himself is still embroiled in a $20 billion lawsuit over a “60 Minutes” interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris which Trump says was unfairly edited in order to give her an advantage in the 2024 election.

According to Deadline, Paramount is preparing to offer Trump a settlement worth millions to end the lawsuit, which would likely help the merger get back on track. Trump wants $25 million and an apology from CBS, rejecting the initial offer of $15 million. Although Democratic lawmakers are concerned a settlement of this nature might violate bribery statutes, the settlement would be a sigh of relief to Paramount’s controlling shareholder, Shari Redstone.

CBS allowed to continue distributing ‘Jeopardy!’ and ‘Wheel of Fortune’ during Sony appeal

CBS has been locked in another legal battle of late, as it feuds with Sony over the distribution rights to game shows “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune.” In April, a Los Angeles judge ruled that Sony, which produces the shows, did not have to provide episodes to CBS any longer. CBS appealed, and the order was paused while a three-judge panel considers the outcome.

On Wednesday, those judges wrote that CBS is allowed to continue distributing episodes of the shows while the appeals process continues. Sony terminated its distribution deal for the shows with CBS in August, and filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against the channel. CBS says Sony’s claims are based on the fact that they simply no longer like the terms of a deal they agreed to decades ago.

Roku Channel announces new host for ‘Great American Baking Show,’ expands universe

One of the most successful Roku Channel originals is “The Great American Baking Show.” On Thursday, the free streaming service announced that it would welcome Andrew Rannells as a new co-host for the series, starting with its fourth season. Rannells will host alongside Casey Wilson.

In addition to the new host, the franchise is expanding its lineup on The Roku Channel. The streamer will launch “The Great British Baking Show: Juniors,” and will add a good amount of library programming from the franchise as well. The additions will bolster the amount of “Baking Show” programming on the streamer greatly.
