The CW extends broadcast deal with Pac-12, how can you watch?
The deal will bring more sports content to The CW, which offers a surprising lineup of top events.
When sports fans think of broadcast TV channels that offer live sports, The CW may not be the first channel they think of. But that perception might be changing; The CW is reportedly set to add a new selection of Pac-12 football games between 2026 and 2031. The slate of games joins a growing list of live sports rights that viewers might be surprised to learn are available on the channel.
Key Details:
- Sticking together: The CW will be the second football broadcast partner for the Pac-12 between 2026 and 2031.
- Join the club: The channel also airs NASCAR Xfinity Series races, ACC athletics, and more.
- Streaming possibilities: Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV are the two streamers with the most CW access.
As reported by John Canzano, the Pac-12 has agreed to extend its deal with The CW to broadcast the conference’s football games until 2031; complete details of the deal are expected to be announced sometime this week. In 2025, The CW will broadcast nine of the combined 13 home games of the Oregon State Beavers and Washington State Cougars, the only two teams in the Pac-12 this year.
CBS was previously announced as another of the Pac-12’s media partners of the future in June, and at the time of that announcement, it was billed as the “primary” partner of the conference. That suggests that CBS will have more Pac-12 games than The CW going forward, but we don’t have confirmation of the game distribution just yet. Canzano also reports that there will be at least one more partner for the Pac-12’s rights, and that he expects the new ESPN streaming service to win the rights to the conference’s Olympic sports.
The continuation of Pac-12 football broadcasts on The CW means that the channel will continue to offer a growing list of live sports over the next few years. The CW is the exclusive home of NASCAR Xfinity Series races until 2031, and also broadcasts football and basketball games from the ACC.
There are plenty of other live sports on The CW as well, including the Grand Slam Track League, AVP Beach Volleyball, Professional Bowlers Association events, and more. In late July, The CW also signed a deal with the Professional Bull Riders Camping World Series to air events on weekends.
What are the best ways to stream The CW?
Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV are the two live TV streaming services that carry The CW in the most markets around the United States, but even these streamers don’t guarantee access. If you don’t get The CW with a live TV streamer in your area, you can get the channel with an over-the-air antenna, which will deliver your market’s local broadcast networks with no monthly subscription fee.
