To celebrate the release of ‘Fountain of Youth’ here are the best action-adventure movies on Apple TV+
Whether you’re into secret agents, ancient maps, or fixer mayhem — this list has it.
I just watched “Fountain of Youth” over the weekend, and honestly? It’s the best version of this kind of movie I’ve seen in maybe a decade. Big set pieces, solid characters, and above all, it’s just fun. That seems to be Apple TV+’s sweet spot when it comes to action-adventure movies — high energy, easy to watch, and usually with a sense of humor. Most of the titles on this list lean into the comedy side of the genre, with only a couple that go a little darker. If you’re in the mood for something fast-paced and entertaining (without taking itself too seriously), here are seven action-adventure movies worth streaming right now on Apple TV+.
Top 7 action-adventure movies streaming on Apple TV+ right now:
No. 7: ‘Ghosted’ (2023)

“Ghosted” has one of those setups I love: regular guy falls for a cool, mysterious woman… who turns out to be a spy. Chris Evans plays the lovesick farmer, Ana de Armas is the secret agent, and next thing you know they’re dodging bullets and hopping across countries together. It’s a spy-action-adventure-rom-com (I love a genre mash-up!), and while the story loses steam in spots, the chemistry between the leads and the big, over-the-top set pieces keep things fun.
The vibe is very “Knight and Day” meets “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” — fast, flirty, and a little ridiculous in the best way. Some of the twists are predictable and not everything fully clicks, but honestly? I didn’t mind. The whole thing feels like a playful throwback to those early-2000s action comedies, and it’s the kind of movie you throw on when you want something entertaining without having to think too hard.
Ghosted
Salt-of-the-earth Cole falls head over heels for enigmatic Sadie—but then makes the shocking discovery that she’s a secret agent. Before they can decide on a second date, Cole and Sadie are swept away on an international adventure to save the world.
No. 6: ‘Argylle’ (2024)

“Argylle” is one of those wild “book comes to life” stories, which is a setup I always love. Bryce Dallas Howard plays this introverted author who writes spy novels from home with her cat… until her stories start playing out in real life. Suddenly, she’s dodging bullets with Sam Rockwell and getting dragged into a global conspiracy that looks suspiciously like the plot of her latest book. It kind of gave me “The Lost City” vibes (Sandra Bullock in a jungle instead of Bryce in a jumpsuit), but with even more flashy spy chaos.
Matthew Vaughn directs the whole thing, so if you’ve seen “Kingsman,” you know exactly what to expect: slow-motion fight scenes, absurd plot twists, and a tone that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Some of it is totally over the top, but it leans into the ridiculous in a way that’s kind of fun. Plus, the cast is stacked — Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, John Cena, Bryan Cranston — it’s basically an action-comedy party. Not everything lands, but if you’re in the mood for something loud, meta, and unapologetically silly, this is a good time.
Argylle
When the plots of reclusive author Elly Conway’s fictional espionage novels begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past. Accompanied by her cat Alfie and Aidan, a cat-allergic spy, Elly races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Conway’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.
No. 5: ‘The Gorge’ (2025)

“The Gorge” is a little darker than most of the movies on this list, but it’s absolutely worth checking out. It’s part love story, part brutal action-thriller, and the mix actually works. Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy play two intense snipers who are guarding a deep gorge without knowing what’s inside of it… and who fall in love in the process.
The setup’s wild, the fight scenes hit hard, and it’s got that slick Scott Derrickson vibe from “The Black Phone.” If you’re into stories where romance is wrapped in danger and betrayal, this one leans into it in a big way. Not your typical date night movie, but a great pick if you want something intense with actual emotional stakes, with adventure to boot.
The Gorge
Two highly trained operatives grow close from a distance after being sent to guard opposite sides of a mysterious gorge. When an evil below emerges, they must work together to survive what lies within.
No. 4: ‘The Instigators’ (2024)

“The Instigators” is one of those classic “two guys on the run” movies — and it fully leans into that chaos. Matt Damon plays a struggling dad who gets pulled into a heist with Casey Affleck, who’s basically a walking disaster. The job goes sideways (obviously), and next thing you know, they’re tearing through Boston with everyone from cops to criminals chasing them down.
It’s got solid action, sharp banter, and that gritty, fast-paced energy Doug Liman does so well (“The Bourne Identity” style, but messier). Hong Chau and Paul Walter Hauser add some fun, weird energy to the mix, and while my wife tapped out halfway through, I was fully in. If you’re into bickering buddies, botched getaways, and heist plans gone totally off the rails, this one delivers. Just remember: it’s definitely a guy’s movie.
The Instigators
Rory and Cobby are unlikely partners thrown together for a heist. But when it goes awry, they team up with an unusual accomplice — Rory’s therapist — to outrun police, backward bureaucrats, and a vengeful crime boss.
No. 3: ‘The Family Plan’ (2023)

“The Family Plan” gives you exactly what the trailer promises: Mark Wahlberg as a former assassin turned suburban dad trying to keep his past from blowing up his family’s quiet life. When things inevitably go sideways, he grabs his wife, kids, and minivan and hits the road — cue the car chases, hotel brawls, and awkward bonding moments in the middle of chaos.
It doesn’t break the action-comedy mold, but it doesn’t need to. Wahlberg’s in his comfort zone, Michelle Monaghan adds heart as the suspicious-but-supportive wife, and Ciarán Hinds is a solid villain. If you’re in the mood for a fast, funny road trip movie with some secret-agent flair, this one gets the job done.
The Family Plan
Dan Morgan is many things: a devoted husband, a loving father, a celebrated car salesman. He’s also a former assassin. And when his past catches up to his present, he’s forced to take his unsuspecting family on a road trip unlike any other.
Mark Wahlberg brings together a blend of family dynamics and high-stakes action. Here are a few reasons why you should watch it:
-
Fresh Spin on Action-Comedy: The film introduces us to Dan Morgan (Wahlberg), a character leading a double life as a suburban family man and a former elite assassin. The mix of domestic comedy with action elements offers a unique take on both genres.
-
Star-Studded Cast: Alongside Wahlberg, the film stars Michelle Monaghan and includes a robust supporting cast such as Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby, Saïd Taghmaoui, Maggie Q, and Ciarán Hinds. The diverse talents of these actors promise strong performances across the board.
-
Production Value: With the backing of Apple Studios and Skydance Media, and with scenes shot across various locations, including Atlanta and Las Vegas, the film has the hallmarks of high production value. Notably, principal photography included a mix of on-location shooting that should contribute to an authentic feel and not an action film that was filmed in front of a green screen.
No. 2: ‘Wolfs’ (2024)

“Wolfs” brings George Clooney and Brad Pitt back together, and yep — it’s still magic. This time they’re not robbing a casino (“Ocean’s Eleven” anyone?), they’re rival fixers stuck on the same chaotic job, and watching them try to out-smooth each other is half the fun. It’s slick, funny, and moves fast, with plenty of sharp dialogue and wild twists that keep the whole thing humming.
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” director Jon Watts keeps the pace tight and the tone just right, so much so that I would’ve loved to see this one on a big screen (Apple TV+ gave it a real short specialty theatrical run before dropping it on streaming). But honestly? It still plays great at home. If you’re into star power, snappy banter, and watching pros handle messy situations with style, this is one of the most purely entertaining movie on Apple TV+ right now.
Wolfs
Hired to cover up a high-profile crime, a fixer soon finds his night spiralling out of control when he’s forced to work with an unexpected counterpart.
No. 1: ‘Fountain of Youth’ (2025)

“Fountain of Youth” might just be my favorite movie of the year. My wife and I watched it together, and we were both totally pulled in — by the story, the visuals, the whole vibe. It kicks off with a phone call between estranged siblings: Luke (John Krasinski), a former academic-turned-adventurer who stumbles on a trail of clues tied to the legendary Fountain of Youth, and Charlotte (Natalie Portman), a sharp, skeptical historian who reluctantly joins the chase. What starts as a reluctant reunion turns into a globe-spanning mystery packed with ancient maps, secret codes, and buried family secrets.
It captures the magic of the original “Indiana Jones” movies in a way that feels fresh but still familiar. There’s even a little nod to Harrison Ford — Krasinski’s character is following in the footsteps of his late father, whose name just happens to be Harrison. The movie is beautiful to look at, the mystery is actually worth solving, and the action sequences pay off without dragging on. I really hope Apple TV+ turns this into a franchise — the ending clearly sets it up, and Guy Ritchie plus this cast? I’m all in for a sequel.
Fountain of Youth
A treasure-hunting mastermind assembles a team for a life-changing adventure. But to outwit and outrun threats at every turn, he’ll need someone even smarter than he is: his estranged sister.
