What are the best movie comedies on Prime Video right now?
Whether you’re into rom-coms, action mashups, or dark humor, this list has you covered.
I just watched “Another Simple Favor,” and honestly? It was a lot of fun — maybe even more out there than the original, in a good way. The tone is exactly the same: funny with a twist of intrigue, set against a gorgeous backdrop that makes the whole thing feel like a stylish little vacation. It’s the kind of movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still keeps you hooked, and it got me thinking about other comedies worth queuing up. So if you’re in the mood for something smart, silly, or just plain entertaining, here are my top seven comedy movies streaming on Prime Video right now.
Take a look at my list and then head down to the comments at the bottom of the page and share your thoughts on the matter.
Top 7 comedy movies streaming on Prime Video right now:
No. 7: ‘Bottoms’ (2023)

“Bottoms” took me a minute to settle into. The tone is wild — like, intentionally over-the-top to the point of total unreality. If you’re not ready for that, it might feel a little too chaotic right out of the gate. But once I leaned into the absurdity, it totally clicked.
The movie follows two queer high school misfits who start a self-defense fight club as a scheme to hook up with cheerleaders. It’s completely unhinged in the best way — packed with deadpan humor, fake blood, and moments that feel like a satire of every teen movie ever made. If you can embrace the chaos, it’s a sharp, funny ride that doesn’t take itself seriously for even one second.
Bottoms
Unpopular best friends PJ and Josie start a high school self-defense club to meet girls and lose their virginity. They soon find themselves in over their heads when the most popular students start beating each other up in the name of self-defense.
No. 6: ‘Daddy’s Home’ (2015)

“Daddy’s Home” has quietly become a modern comedy classic. Will Ferrell plays the squeaky-clean stepdad trying way too hard, while Mark Wahlberg rolls in as the cool, ripped biological dad who immediately throws the family dynamic into chaos. Their rivalry is ridiculous in the best way, turning everything — basketball games, bedtime routines, even Christmas lights — into a full-on competition.
It’s one of those comedies that’s endlessly rewatchable because it knows exactly what it is: goofy, physical, and totally over-the-top. But underneath all the slapstick is a surprisingly sweet message about blended families and figuring out where everyone fits. If you somehow missed it when it came out, now’s the perfect time to catch up.
Daddy’s Home
The story of a mild-mannered radio executive who strives to become the best stepdad ever to his wife’s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling, freeloading real father arrives, forcing stepdad to compete for the affection of the kids.
No. 5: ‘The Big Sick’ (2017)

“The Big Sick” is one of my favorite rom-coms, proving that sometimes it works to put a bunch of heavy hitters together to make a movie. Directed by Michael Showalter and produced by Judd Apatow, it’s got some serious comedy pedigree behind it — compounded by the real magic that Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon infused into the script (based on their real-life relationship).
The story follows Kumail, a struggling stand-up comic, as he falls for Emily just before she’s unexpectedly placed in a medically induced coma. What sounds like a heavy setup turns into a heartfelt, genuinely funny look at love, family, and cultural expectations. It’s sharp, sweet, and totally unique — a rom-com that sticks with you long after you’ve stopped watching.
The Big Sick
Pakistan-born comedian Kumail Nanjiani and grad student Emily Gardner fall in love but struggle as their cultures clash. When Emily contracts a mysterious illness, Kumail finds himself forced to face her feisty parents, his family’s expectations, and his true feelings.
No. 4: ‘The Fall Guy’ (2024)

A year or so after its release, “The Fall Guy” is still one of the best movies on Prime Video — and honestly, it delivers. Ryan Gosling plays a bruised-and-battered stuntman pulled out of retirement when the lead actor on a blockbuster film goes missing. The twist? The movie’s being directed by his ex, played by Emily Blunt, which adds just the right amount of romantic tension to all the explosions and chaos.
What makes it work is how smoothly it blends rom-com charm with full-throttle action. Gosling and Blunt have great chemistry, the jokes land, and even the most over-the-top set pieces feel grounded in their emotional push-and-pull. It’s fast, funny, and secretly kind of sweet under all the mayhem. Definitely worth the watch if you like your romance with a few car flips.
The Fall Guy
Fresh off an almost career-ending accident, stuntman Colt Seavers has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job.
No. 3: ‘Freaky’ (2020)

I love a good body-swap premise, and “Freaky” goes all in — with big laughs, sharp writing, and yes, a ton of blood. Kathryn Newton plays a high schooler who wakes up in the body of a middle-aged serial killer (played by Vince Vaughn), and the results are just as ridiculous and entertaining as you’d hope.
This movie should’ve gotten way more buzz when it dropped, but hey — it’s never too late to catch a great one. “Freaky” is clever, fast-paced, and surprisingly heartfelt underneath all the horror-comedy chaos. Vaughn in full teenage-girl mode is worth the watch alone, but the whole thing just works. If you’re in the mood for something funny, weird, and a little stabby, queue it up.
TBD
No. 2: ‘Another Simple Favor’ (2024)

I just watched the first movie earlier this year, so I was totally geared up for “Another Simple Favor” — and I’m happy to report it delivers. It brings back that same tricky tone: half dark comedy, half stylish mystery, with just the right amount of sass and suspense.
This time around, the story gets a bit bigger, the twists come faster, and the locations are next-level gorgeous. Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick pick up right where they left off, and it’s clear they’re having a blast with it. If you liked the first one, this sequel keeps the vibe alive while dialing up the drama just enough to make it feel fresh.
Another Simple Favor
Stephanie and Emily reunite on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman. Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.
No. 1: ‘Legally Blonde’ (2001)

“Legally Blonde” is the perfect warm-up for what’s coming next: the prequel series “Elle.” I didn’t grow up with this movie like some people did — my wife introduced me to it a few years ago — but I totally get the hype. Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods is hilarious, sharp, and has more heart than most so-called “serious” dramas.
Whether she’s mastering the LSAT or just showing up a smug ex with a smile, Elle is pure confidence and kindness wrapped in hot pink. And now, with Prime Video diving into her high school years, it’s a great time to go back to where it all started. The movie still holds up, and if anything, it’s even more fun knowing we’ll get to see how Elle became Elle.
Legally Blonde
Fashionable sorority queen Elle Woods has it all, but, she wants nothing more than to be Mrs. Warner Huntington III. But he dumps her before heading to Harvard Law School. Elle rallies all of her resources and gets into Harvard, determined to win him back. While there, she figures out that there is more to herself than just good looks.
