What features are available on Disney+?
Up to 7 Profiles
Disney+ will allow you up to profiles and lets you choose a unique Disney avatar for each one.
Parental Controls
Disney has designed Disney+ with your kids in mind. When you create a profile, you can set it to Kids Mode. This will not only lock down the account to just kid-friendly content, but also creates a unique interface of shows and movies recommended for your kids.
Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Max, Hulu, Netflix, Paramount Plus, Peacock, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, and STARZ also have parental control features.
Up to 4 Devices
Disney+ allows you to stream on up to 4 devices simultaneously.
Ads
Disney+ Basic plan includes ads, while Disney+ Premium does not. Ads on Disney+ Basic will run at the beginning and the middle of your shows and movies, with up to 4 minutes per hour. Disney+ won’t run ads during kids content on either plan.
Offline Downloads
If you subscribe to Disney+ Premium, you will get access to offline downloads. Those on the Disney+ Basic plan won’t be able to download to their device.
Disney+ is one of the most generous streaming services for offline downloads. Disney+ Premium subscribers have access to unlimited downloads of shows and movies on the Disney+ app to watch offline later, on up to 10 mobile or tablet devices.
There are no limits on the number of times a title can be downloaded annually. The number of downloads available at a given time is based on the storage space available on your device.
International Access
Depending on where you travel to, Disney+ will behave differently. If you go to a country that has Disney+, you will see the content catalog in that country. If you go to a country that doesn’t have Disney+, you will only be able to access shows and movies you’ve already downloaded offline.
Originals
Disney+ is investing heavily in originals with the most notable titles coming from Marvel and Star Wars. Its biggest hit is still its first series: “The Mandalorian.”
Other Star Wars series include “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” “The Book of Boba Fett,” and the upcoming “Ahsoka” and “The Acolyte.” There are also animated Star Wars shows like “The Bad Batch.”
You’ll see a new Marvel series every three months with titles like “WandaVision,” “Loki,” “Moon Knight,” and “She-Hulk.”
You’ll also see films exclusive to the platform like “Hocus Pocus 2,” “Turning Red,” “Luca,” and “Soul.”
There are also musical originals like “Hamilton,” The Beatles docuseries “Get Back,” and “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium.”
TV Shows
You’ll see shows including “The Muppet Show,” “Glee,” “Boy Meets World,” “Phineas and Ferb,” “DuckTales,” “Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers,” the 1990s “X-Men: The Animated Series,” and the former Netflix exclusive “Daredevil.”
Disney+ also has a lot of old Disney Channel shows like “Lizzie McGuire,” “Even Stevens,” “That’s So Raven,” and “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”
Older kids and adults will enjoy the full run of “The Simpsons.”
Movies
If you’re a fan of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, or Star Wars — Disney+ is a must have. The service includes the entire Disney animated library known as the Disney Vault. This means you and your family can watch movies like “Encanto,” “Frozen,” “Moana,” “Snow White,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Lion King” anytime you want.
You can also watch nearly every Pixar film ever made like “Toy Story,” “Finding Nemo,” “Cars,” “WALL-E,” and more.
You’ll find almost every film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), including “Avengers: Endgame” and “Thor: Love and Thunder.” For Star Wars fans, you can stream every film from “A New Hope” through “The Rise of Skywalker.”
Disney+ is also home to the “Avatar” movie franchise.
Every Disney movie released in theaters will be available on Disney+ as soon as 45 days after they hit theaters.
Kids
There is no better streaming service for kids than Disney+. Not only does it include the entire library of Disney and Pixar animated films, but also many shows from the Disney Channel. This makes it The Streamable’s Choice as Best Streaming Service for Children.
Popular kids series include “Bluey,” “Big City Greens,” “Eureka!,” “Doc McStuffins,” and “Spidey and His Amazing Friends.”
Since the service offers a Kids Mode, your child can have their own profile that only shows content appropriate for them. When you’re traveling, you can even download movies and shows offline to keep your kids occupied on long car rides or flights.
