Find out how many Premium accounts come with a Spotify Family plan, the service’s price and features, and much more here.
If you’re a music lover, there’s probably no need to tell you how easy Spotify makes it to listen to your favorite tracks, albums, and playlists. The music streaming service is available on a host of popular modern devices, and has a library of hundreds of millions of songs, podcast episodes, and more for listeners to enjoy.
Although Spotify has a strong free offering, customers who want to upgrade to ad-free listening with the service will have to seek out one of its several Premium plans. Spotify has several of these to choose from, including the Family plan, which is great for households with multiple music fans.
What sets Spotify’s Family plan apart, however? What are its key features, and how many people can listen at the same time with a subscription? We’ll answer all the questions you have about Spotify’s Family plan below, so you can make the right call when choosing a family audio streaming package.
Everything you need to know about the Spotify Family plan
What is the Spotify Family plan?
The Family plan is the highest tier of Spotify Premium currently available. It comes with all the features of a Premium subscription (more on that below), and allows customers to enjoy multiple Premium accounts on a single subscription. It’s the ideal way for a household with more than one music or podcast fanatic to unlock the Spotify library ad-free for a good price.
How much does Spotify Family cost?
Spotify Family costs $22 per month. While it’s the most expensive of Spotify’s Premium offerings, it’s very much a case of “you get what you pay for,” since the Family plan has the most features and allows for the most simultaneous streams.
How many simultaneous streams does Spotify Family allow?
A Spotify Premium Family subscription allows listeners to sign up for up to six premium accounts at once. All six family members will be able to listen to their own music or podcasts at the same time, and listeners can even switch between accounts on shared devices, such as smart TVs or streaming players.
What are the features of Spotify Family?
Because Spotify Premium Family has all listeners sign up for their own Premium account, every family member will receive personalized music and podcast recommendations that will fit their individual taste. Users also get to keep their listening history and playlists separate from other family members, so there’s no need to dig around for a favorite list of songs. Customers can take their Spotify Premium Family subscription on the go, or listen at home, just as they can with any other Spotify Premium subscription.
The benefits of Spotify Premium are numerous. A subscription allows listeners to enjoy ad-free access to the Spotify library of hundreds of millions of songs, millions of podcast episodes, and 15 hours of premium audiobook access each month. Subscribers can listen at home or on the go, on mobile devices, smart TVs, streaming players, computers, and more.

Does Spotify Family have accounts for kids?
Yes, parents can establish kids’ accounts for listeners under 13. Equipped with robust parental controls, these accounts let parents remove the ability to listen to songs or artists, and turn off videos or content that’s labeled explicit. Kids’ profiles also have more privacy protections and limited social features, so parents don’t have to worry as much about kids getting into
What restrictions are built in with Spotify Family?
Spotify’s Premium Family plan does have one key restriction to know about: family members must live at the same address to be included in the plan. Upon activation, every account tied to your household’s subscription will be asked to verify the home address of the account holder.
Per Spotify’s terms of service, the streamer has the ability to suspend or terminate accounts that it decides are using family subscriptions. So, if you’re sharing your Spotify Premium Family subscription with someone who doesn’t live in your home, be aware of the risk you are taking; your account could be shut down as a result.
Is Spotify Family a good value?
The value of Spotify’s Premium Family plan is impossible to ignore. Its price point is only $9 more than an individual Spotify Premium plan, and for that price you can add up to five additional people you live with to your plan. If each person in the home had to buy their own Spotify Premium subscription, the price would rise to $65 per month.
It’s not a knock on Spotify Premium Family to point out that it actually has one of the more expensive family audio streaming plans on the market. At $22 per month, Spotify’s family offering is more expensive than Apple Music’s ($17 per month) and YouTube TV’s ($19 per month), but we still don’t think that makes it a bad deal overall.
If you live with a group of music and podcast diehards, having a Spotify Family Premium subscription is a superb value. Listeners can get six Premium accounts for less than the price of two with Spotify’s Family plan, and listeners get to enjoy the enormous Spotify library ad-free at home or on the go.
