Where, oh where will that Paddington Bear end up next? The adorable bear’s newest adventure will take him all the way to South America in the aptly-named “Paddington in Peru,” which officially debuts in cinemas on Friday, Feb. 14. Key Details:
- As with the other “Paddington” movies, “Paddington in Peru” has received rave reviews from critics.
- The movie is distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment, so it will stream on Netflix first.
- Fans are almost certainly in for a wait of more than 100 days for the movie.

“Paddington in Peru” sees the marmalade-obsessed bear whisked off on another adventure. When he learns that his dear Aunt Lucy is missing from the Home for Retired Bears, Paddington convinces the Brown family to enter the jungle of Peru to look for her. The only clue they have is a mysterious map, and it leads Paddington on an epic adventure to find Lucy again.
Just like the other movies in the “Paddington” franchise, “Paddington in Peru” has been adoringly received by professional reviewers. The movie has a 94% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes based on 127 reviews, and audiences are likely to fawn over it as well.
When will ‘Paddington in Peru’ stream on Netflix?
“Paddington in Peru” is distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment in the United States. Sony doesn’t own a streaming platform of its own to put the movie on, and licenses its theatrical releases to Netflix once they’re no longer exclusively in cinemas.
Because Sony licenses its movies to Netflix, it likes to give them long theatrical release windows so they can bring in as much ticket revenue as possible. Blake Lively’s lawsuit-generating movie “It Ends With Us” was in theaters for 122 days before arriving on Netflix, and “Venom: The Last Dance” took 123 days, despite both movies’ less-than-stellar box office performances.
There’s no reason to think “Paddington in Peru” will take less time in theaters, especially given how popular with audiences I expect it to be. I’ll predict that “Paddington in Peru” will arrive on Netflix on June 14, 2025, 120 days from its initial release. You can stream the first “Paddington Bear” on Hulu or Peacock while you wait, but unfortunately “Paddington 2” isn’t streaming with a subscription anywhere at the moment.
