When will The End of Oak Street stream at home? We'll forecast it here.

The end of summer is nearly here, but there’s still time to catch one last blockbuster at the theater. “The End of Oak Street” may not be a comic-book adaptation or explosion-filled action flick, but it’s drawing rave reviews and healthy preview audiences nonetheless. The movie is available in theaters as of Friday, Aug. 14, but when will it stream at home? We’ll give our best prognostication below.

Key Details:

  • Not bad: “The End of Oak Street” has attracted good reviews from audiences and critics.
  • Max potential: The movie will stream on HBO Max when it leaves theaters.
  • How long?: A streaming window of around 75 days seems likely for the movie.

“The End of Oak Street” follows Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as Denise and Greg Platt, a couple with a troubled marriage who live on the nondescript suburban lane Oak Street. When a mysterious event transports their block to parts unknown, the Platt family realizes that their survival depends on sticking together.

The film has received decent reviews from both critics and preview screening audiences. It has an 85% score from reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 71% audience score. It has also reached a 68 score on Metacritic, which indicates “Generally Favorable” reviews.

When will ‘The End of Oak Street’ stream at home?

While there is no announced streaming date for “The End of Oak Street,” we do know where it will stream first — probably, at least. The film is being distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery in the United States, and that means it will stream on HBO Max once it leaves theaters — unless Paramount closes its purchase of WBD in the next two or three months, an outcome that appears unlikely as of now.

It’s hard to say exactly when “The End of Oak Street” will stream on HBO Max. Looking back on other releases from Warner Bros. this year can provide some clues; “Wuthering Heights” got a theatrical window of 77 days, and while WBD hasn’t announced an HBO Max bow for “Supergirl” yet, we still think the movie will arrive on streaming in the next few weeks.

With all of that in mind, we’ll predict that “The End of Oak Street” will be available to stream on HBO Max beginning Friday, Oct. 30, 77 days from its official theatrical release. The movie could be the perfect Halloween stream if that date proves accurate, but we’ll just have to wait and see!
