Young adult content strategy pays off for Prime Video
The streamer’s most-watched original TV season of the year is a YA series, as new data from Luminate shows.
Every great streaming service wants to have its own identity — something it’s known for doing better than every other platform. HBO Max has prestige TV, and Disney+ is the best place for kids’ content, but what about Prime Video? That streamer has established itself as a haven for young adult TV shows and movies, and new data from Luminate shows that its customers are responding in a big way.
Key Details:
- Driving views: Prime Video’s biggest original TV season of 2026 is a YA series.
- Continued success: “The Summer I Turned Pretty” was one of Prime Video’s top original titles in 2025.
- No stopping: Prime Video held its first YA content festival, Obsessed Fest, in 2026.
As measured by Luminate, Prime Video’s hockey-themed young adult series “Off Campus” has been one of the most-watched series overall on Prime Video this year, despite having only one season’s worth of episodes available.
“Off Campus” Season 1 is currently the most-watched original TV season to date on Prime Video this season. The show has been streamed for 5.4 billion minutes — more than the final season of “The Boys,” “Reacher,” Season 4, and other popular Prime Video titles for adults.
Another YA title from Prime Video, “Sterling Point,” lands just outside this year’s top-10 original TV seasons, compiling nearly 2.4 billion streaming minutes despite having just eight 45-minute episodes available. And the streamer’s new “Legally Blonde” spin-off series “Elle” will follow its protagonist in her high school days to give it a YA spin of its own, applying the content strategy to one of its biggest IPs.
YA content was also big on Prime Video in 2025, when the final season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” finished in the top 10 most-streamed original series of the year. Clearly, the streamer’s commitment to YA titles is paying off with audiences, who are flocking to the streamer to watch.
The future looks bright for YA content on Prime Video, as well. The streamer hosted the first Obsessed Fest this year, a festival dedicated to its current and future YA slate. Prime Video is becoming a true hub for young adult titles and is leaning into that reputation in a major way.
