Which shows should Android users watch on Apple TV+ first?
Now that Apple TV+ is officially available on Android devices, we’ve got a list of the five shows you should try on the streamer.
The day that many Android users have been waiting for has finally arrived. Apple TV+ is now available on Android mobile phones and streaming devices, as today Apple is launching dedicated apps compatible with gadgets made by its fiercest rival. Now that Android TV and mobile users have access to Apple TV+ — as well as the Apple TV app and MLS Season Pass — they can take advantage of a seven-day free trial and binge the streamer’s original shows and movies. But what should they watch first? We’ve assembled a checklist of five shows that Android users — or anyone new to Apple TV+ — should watch once they sign up for the service for the first time.
Which shows should Android users on Apple TV+ try first?
‘Severance’

“Severance” is one of the best-reviewed shows on TV, and it’s consistently a top performer for Apple TV+. The show centers on a corporation called Lumon Industries, which has developed a technique to allow people to compartmentalize their work lives and their home lives.
But when a group of employees begins to dig more deeply into the company’s inner workings, they begin to discover shocking secrets that reveal things at Lumon aren’t as they appear. The show stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette. Ben Stiller serves as executive producer.
Apple is currently airing the show’s second season, but there is plenty of time to catch up before the Season 2 finale airs on March 21.
‘Shrinking’

If you’re a fan of sentimental comedy series, “Shrinking” is definitely one of the best options on TV, let alone on Apple TV+. It focuses on Jimmy (played by Jason Segel), a therapist who is still grappling with the death of his wife when he decides to make a radical choice with his clients: telling them the truth regarding what he thinks of their problems.
This predictably — and hilariously — lands Jimmy in some hot water, both at work and in his home life. But through it all, he maintains a resolve to help clients, even to his own detriment. In addition to Segel, “Shrinking” boasts an incredible cast featuring Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Lukita Maxwell, Christa Miller, Michael Urie, Ted McGinley, and more.
The show’s second season ended on Christmas Eve 2024, but the crew is preparing to shoot Season 3 in California now. So, if all goes to plan, new episodes should return later this year.
‘Silo’

A sci-fi epic with a thriller twist, “Silo” loves to keep viewers guessing. The show takes place in a dystopian future where the surface of the Earth has been devastated. Humanity’s remnants have been forced into a giant underground silo, where the rules of this particular society are strictly enforced.
When an engineer named Juliette begins to uncover the secrets of the silo, she becomes both a beacon and a target. The more she learns the more dangerous it becomes, but she finds herself unable to turn back. “Silo” features Rebecca Ferguson, Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Common, Tim Robbins, and Harriet Walter.
Based on the Graham Yost trilogy of books, Season 2 wrapped last month, but Apple TV+ has already picked up the show for Seasons 3 and 4, so there should be no concern about getting sucked into the mystery, only to have the series canceled before it answers its biggest questions.
‘Slow Horses’

A spy series positively dripping with dry British wit, “Slow Horses” is one of the longest-running and most critically acclaimed series on Apple TV+. It centers on a group of MI5 agents who have been consigned to administrative purgatory in Slough House, a backwater section of the agency reserved for screw-ups and has-beens.
Their extremely defatigable leader Jackson Lamb constantly berates the so-called Slow Horses, yet they continually find themselves involved in some of England’s most important cases. “Slow Horses” stars Gary Oldman, Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, and a collection of incredible British actors, all who could be killed off at any given time.
Each six-episode season of the show is based on an individual novel from Mick Herron’s long-running series. At the conclusion of each season, Apple TV+ reveals the trailer for the next season, keeping fans always anxious for more. Season 4 ended last fall, with the fifth season slated for 2025. The show has been renewed at least through a sixth season, but that installment will depart slightly from the norm. Season 6 will not be based on a single book, but will instead adapt the sixth and seventh books in the series “Joe Country” and “Slough House.”
‘Ted Lasso’

This is the show that really got things started for Apple TV+. “Ted Lasso” follows the story of a champion American college football coach who is brought to England to head up an English Premier League soccer team, much to the consternation of locals and players alike.
His unbridled optimism begins to win over the club, but underneath the surface, Ted has a lot to work on. In the end, the team ends up changing him as much as he does it. “Ted Lasso” stars Jason Sudeikis, Hanna Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple, Phil Dunster, Nick Mohammed, and Brett Goldstein.
While the presumed series finale aired nearly two years ago, it is believed that the beloved comedy will return for a fourth season, which will begin filming this May. While nothing has been confirmed by Apple, all signs point to a return to Richmond in the relatively near future.

Apple TV
Apple TV (formerly known as Apple TV+) is a subscription video streaming service for $14.99 per month, offering a growing slate of original series, films, documentaries, and specials. Unlike other platforms that combine licensed titles with originals, Apple TV is built entirely around exclusive programming, making it the home of critically acclaimed hits such as “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” and “Silo.” Its lineup continues to expand with award-winning dramas, comedies, family-friendly shows, and blockbuster original films like “CODA,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
