Amazon Luna launching on Xfinity devices

Amazon Luna launching on Xfinity devices

The launch means that Xfinity customers can now play games directly from their Xfinity streaming device.

Cloud gaming can turn any compatible smart TV or streaming device into a powerful gaming console. Amazon offers one of the most well-stocked cloud gaming services of any company in Amazon Luna, and on Thursday, the company teamed with Comcast to announce that Luna is now available to use on eligible Xfinity streaming devices, unlocking cloud gaming for those users on a completely new level.

Key Details:

  • Get your game on: Amazon Luna cloud gaming is rolling out on Xfinity streaming players.
  • Cast a spell: Games like “Hogwarts Legacy” and others are available to play with a Luna account.
  • Bring your device: All subscribers need to play is a Luna controller or a compatible Bluetooth gamepad.

Amazon’s Luna cloud gaming service is now launching on Xfinity X1 and Xumo Stream Boxes around the United States. All customers need to do is download the Luna app on these devices, sign in, and start using their X1 or Xumo Stream Box to deliver all their favorite games available with a Luna subscription.

Luna is included in the Amazon Prime subscription service, and offers a huge selection of games like “The Jackbox Party Pack 9” and more than 50 others at no additional cost to subscribers. Customers can also play games like “Hogwarts Legacy” with Luna, as well as purchase additional games or gaming subscriptions through the Luna platform, and play all those games in a single place.

“At Amazon, we’re focused on making gaming more accessible for our customers, and this collaboration with Comcast allows us to reach more customers across the US,” Amazon Luna GM Jeff Gattis said. “Comcast’s reach and versatility makes it a great fit as we continue to scale Amazon Luna and its growing content library across more devices, more homes, and more players.”

Xfinity offers its X1 device to all subscribers of any Xfinity TV plan, which means millions more viewers now have access to the Amazon Luna platform. Gamers can now play their favorites on the biggest screen in their living room, and all they need to access Luna on X1 or Xumo Stream Boxes is a Luna controller or other compatible Bluetooth controller.

“Xfinity is redefining what it means to game on the big screen,” Comcast executive Fraser Stirling said. “By combining our superior broadband with our world-class entertainment platform, we’re making it easier than ever for customers to jump into high-quality cloud gaming experiences like Amazon Luna – no console, no downloads, just seamless play on top of the best WiFi for gamers.”

Xfinity recently embarked on a sweeping rebrand of its TV packages, introducing all-in pricing and other features designed to make its plans more accessible to customers. The rollout of the Amazon Luna cloud gaming service is another step in that direction, allowing viewers to play games directly from their X1 or Xumo Stream Box devices.
