Apple TV to show 5 Formula 1 races on IMAX screens
The most iconic Grands Prix of the F1 season will be shown on giant IMAX screens around the United States.
Formula 1 is racing onto the biggest movie theater screens in the United States this year. Apple acquired the rights to stream F1 races on its Apple TV streaming service in October, and has now announced a new partnership with IMAX to present a selection of Grands Prix on big screens at theaters across the United States.
Key Details:
- Power five: Apple will offer five F1 races on IMAX screens in 2026.
- Spring to fall: IMAX races will be spread out from May to October.
- New ally: Viewers can stream all F1 races on Apple TV for $13 per month.
A total of five F1 races are to be shown on IMAX screens this season. At least 50 locations across the United States will offer the races, and there may be more. Viewers will be able to watch the Miami Grand Prix, Monaco Grand Prix, British Grand Prix, Italian Grand Prix, and United States Grand Prix live on IMAX screens.
The first of these races is the Miami Grand Prix on June 3, while the last is the United States Grand Prix on Oct. 25. For a schedule of all races currently set to appear in IMAX theaters, check out the table below.

“F1 is a rapidly growing force in sports and culture in the US, and by bringing F1 on Apple TV live to Imax theaters nationwide, we’re delivering the energy and excitement to even more screens in a truly immersive way,” Apple VP Oliver Schusser said. “We’re excited to collaborate with Imax to expand access to F1 on Apple TV and give fans across the U.S. a powerful new way to experience the speed and spectacle that the sport delivers.”
The partnership of Apple and F1 with IMAX follows the success of “F1,” the original movie from Apple Studios that became the top-grossing IMAX Hollywood release of 2025. Viewers will be able to stream all F1 races of the 2026 season on Apple TV, with a price of just $13 per month to watch.
The success of “F1” helped to “[prove] beyond a doubt that the speed, precision, and artistry of Formula 1 translate beautifully to the Imax Experience, and we are very excited to further our collaboration with Apple and offer fans more of what resonated so deeply with that film by presenting live F1 races to them in IMAX,” IMAX executive Jonathan Fischer said. “We look forward to working with Apple to amplify its live coverage of Formula 1 and give fans in the U.S. an all-new way to experience this fast-growing sport.”
Apple TV
Apple TV (formerly known as Apple TV+) is a subscription video streaming service for $14.99 per month, offering a growing slate of original series, films, documentaries, and specials. Unlike other platforms that combine licensed titles with originals, Apple TV is built entirely around exclusive programming, making it the home of critically acclaimed hits such as “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” and “Silo.” Its lineup continues to expand with award-winning dramas, comedies, family-friendly shows, and blockbuster original films like “CODA,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
