Bassmaster fishing tournaments will stream for free on Roku
Starting this week, fishing fans can watch some of the best in the sport for free.
The Roku Channel is doing everything it can to be considered the leader in sports among free streaming services. Those efforts are continuing this week, as on Tuesday, Roku announced that it was partnering with the world’s leading sport fishing association Bassmaster. The Roku Channel will provide free coverage of Bassmaster events, alongside all the other new sports programming the streamer has to offer.
Key Details:
- Free Bassmaster programming on The Roku Channel will begin on Thursday, Feb. 20.
- On-demand replays, highlights and more will also be available.
- Roku has also added volleyball, as well as announced plans for a new women’s sports show in recent months.
Free coverage of Bassmaster tournaments will begin on The Roku Channel on Thursday, Feb. 20. Upcoming Roku Channel coverage includes the Elite Qualifiers (EQ) Series, five Bassmaster Open Series events, which set the field for the EQs, select coverage of all nine Bassmaster Elite Series events, Friday coverage of the Bassmaster Classic, and a special primetime production of the Bassmaster Classic Celebrity Pro-Am.
“It’s an honor to call Roku the streaming home of Bassmaster, an iconic brand with a decades-spanning history of producing best-in-class professional fishing tournaments,” Roku Media’s head of sports Joe Franzett said. “We look forward to bringing these events for free to the passionate fanbase of this top outdoor sport, as well as introducing Bassmaster to new audiences, expanding the tournaments’ reach to millions of streaming households in the U.S.”
In addition to live coverage of Bassmaster events, Roku Channel will provide on-demand replays, highlights, and more in its dedicated Sports channel, as well as a new Bassmaster-dedicated channel which will launch later in 2025. Viewers will be able to see the best anglers in the sport, and best of all it will be free to watch.
“We are proud to bring so much live programming to Roku’s fast-growing sports channel, and we’re very excited about the creation of a new outlet for posted video content, on a dedicated Bassmaster FAST channel on Roku. It’s thrilling to have one of the first streaming-rights partnerships in outdoor sports and the first for professional fishing on America’s No. 1 streaming platform,” B.A.S.S. COO Phillip Johnson said. “This partnership will allow Bassmaster to bring our exciting coverage of the highest level of professional bass fishing to Roku’s enormous audience and introduce our sport to a new fan base.”
Roku’s commitment to adding more live sports has been apparent in recent months. The company made a deal with the Pro Volleyball Federation to stream matches free in early January, and in February it announced that it would be launching a new weekly show dedicated to women’s sports as well.
