Is Sebastian Stan’s New Donald Trump Movie ‘The Apprentice’ Streaming Now?

The film is being distributed by Briarcliff Entertainment, so it’s not as easy to say where “The Apprentice” will become available.

Sebastian Stan stars as Donald Trump in The Apprentice, which premieres in theaters Oct. 11.

As the 2024 U.S. presidential election draws closer, audiences are getting a chance to see Republican candidate Donald Trump from a different perspective. The former president is the subject of the new biographical drama “The Apprentice,” which makes its theatrical debut on Friday, Oct. 11. Since the Sebastian Stan movie is not being released by a major give distributor, I will break down the best guesses as to when and where you’ll be able to stream it from home!

Key Details

  • “The Apprentice” has a 79% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
  • The movie is being distributed by Briarcliff Entertainment, which makes it difficult to determine its on-demand home.
  • Premium video-on-demand platforms like Prime Video will almost certainly get “The Apprentice” first.

Watch a Trailer for ‘The Apprentice’:

“The Apprentice” features Sebastian Stan stepping into the role of Donald Trump. The story picks up in the 1970s when Trump meets former Joseph McCarthy associate Roy Cohn. The film centers on the relationship between the two, with Cohn taking Trump under his wing and teaching him his brand of winning no matter the cost.

The movie has been fairly popular with critics thus far, with 79% of reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes giving it their thumbs-up. Critics have special praise for Sebastian Stan’s performance, and the film’s reluctance to pathologize its subject instead of offering a fact-based portrayal.

When and Where Will ‘The Apprentice’ Stream?

The Apprentice is being distributed by a small studio, but it will be available for rental or purchase on Prime Video first.

The questions of where and when “The Apprentice” will stream on-demand are harder to answer than they are with most movies. That’s because the film is being distributed by Briarcliff Entertainment in the United States, which in the past has sent movies to Hulu, the MGM+ App, and other streamers.

It’s a better bet that “The Apprentice” will be available on Prime Video and other services that allow viewers to rent and buy movies that are still in theaters first. Most movies spend at least a few weeks on such premium video-on-demand (PVOD) sites before moving to their eventual on-demand homes. “Dogman,” another movie distributed by Briarcliff and released in March was available to rent or buy on Prime Video by mid-April.

I think “The Apprentice” will follow a similar path, and there’s a good chance it will be released on PVOD platforms around one month from now. My official prediction is that it will be available to rent or buy on Prime Video on Friday, Nov. 15, just days after the conclusion of the election.
