ClearVPN brings protection to Apple TV and Android TV
Get protected on the most important devices in the house.
MacPaw is bringing its VPN service to the biggest screens in the house. The company announced today that ClearVPN is now available on both Apple TV and Android TV, allowing users to secure their streaming activity and access global content directly on their smart TVs. The expansion extends ClearVPN’s privacy-focused approach beyond smartphones and computers, with a single subscription covering up to six devices.
The launch makes it much easier for users to add protection to the devices in the house they use the most. By adding support for Apple’s tvOS and Android TV platforms, MacPaw is positioning ClearVPN as a simple way for users to add an extra layer of privacy while streaming movies, TV shows, and live sports.
“We built ClearVPN on one belief: privacy should be effortless,” said Tetiana Shokina, Product Manager at MacPaw. “Bringing it to Apple TV and Android TV wasn’t a feature request; it was the obvious next step. If simplicity is our promise, it has to work on every screen, including the biggest one.”
Since launching in 2020, ClearVPN has focused on making VPN technology accessible to everyday users by removing many of the technical hurdles associated with traditional VPN services. With servers in over 50 countries, the app’s Optimal Location feature automatically connects users to the server it determines is best available, while a dedicated streaming mode helps users connect to servers optimized for specific streaming platforms. MacPaw says the service uses industry-standard VPN protocols to deliver fast, stable connections across supported devices — all with a strict no-logs policy.
How to get ClearVPN on your smart TV
To get started, users can download the ClearVPN app directly from the Apple TV App Store or Google Play Store on Android TV devices. The setup process avoids the hassle of entering long email addresses and passwords with a remote control. Instead, users can either scan a QR code displayed on the TV with their smartphone or visit a short activation link and enter a code shown on-screen. Once authenticated, the app is ready to use in seconds. You can sign up for a monthly plan at $9.99 per month, or cut the cost to $3.75 per month by signing up for a full year. You can even try it for free for 3 days, and ClearVPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.
The update is now available worldwide for devices running Android TV 6 or later and Apple TV devices running tvOS 18 or later. ClearVPN is also available on macOS, Windows, iPhone, iPad, Android devices, routers, and as a Chrome extension, allowing users to protect multiple devices under a single subscription.
