Max is now officially in the news streaming business. Warner Bros. Discovery has launched its new CNN Max content hub on Max, meaning subscribers of the Max with Ads, Max Ad-Free and Ultimate Max Ad-Free plans all get live news, breaking updates, and much more. WBD first announced it was bringing live news from CNN to Max in August.
“We have the broadest and highest quality entertainment offering, and now will include world-leading news as a meaningful addition for all Max subscribers, at no extra charge,” WBD’s head of streaming J.B. Perrette said. “CNN Max is differentiated by having 24/7 news at its core from CNN, the leading global news organization, and being available on a scaled streaming service in the U.S., which has a significantly younger and additive audience compared to traditional TV.”
Access to the CNN Max hub is free with a subscription to Max. Users can access this content hub no matter which Max plan they’re subscribed to.
Does Max Offer a Free Trial to Watch CNN Max?
Max does not offer a free trial of its own, but if you’ve never tried the service before, you can access a seven-day free trial by signing up through Hulu or Prime Video. Once the trial is over, you’ll have to pay $9.99 per month to keep Max with ads, $15.99 to go ad-free, or $19.99 to upgrade to Ultimate Max. Here’s how to get the free trial from Hulu or Prime Video:
1. Get a Free Trial of Max Through Prime Video Channels
If you are an Amazon Prime subscriber that has never tried Max, you can still get a 7-Day Free Trial to the service.
2. Get a Free Trial of Max Through Hulu
If you are a new or current Hulu subscriber that has never tried Max through Hulu, you’re in luck. Hulu is offering a 7-Day Free Trial to Max through their streaming service.
Users will be able to locate CNN Max content at the very top of their screen when using Max. Locate the “Home” row, and find the “News” tab on the far right-hand side to be taken to the CNN Max hub.
Does CNN Max Have a Livestream of CNN?
Not exactly. CNN Max offers a mix of bespoke programming specially designed for streaming alongside flagship CNN shows featuring highly recognized talent. “CNN Newsroom” featuring CNN anchors Jim Acosta, Jim Sciutto, Rahel Solomon, Amara Walker, and Fredricka Whitfield. Sciutto will also lead breaking news coverage for the streaming hub in the afternoons.
CNN Max will also feature some of the cable channel’s cornerstone shows including “Amanpour,” “Anderson Cooper 360,” “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer,” and more. CNN Max is still in its open beta phase, so WBD may decide to experiment with different programming options as the fall goes along.
