DAZN becomes global streaming provider of EuroLeague Women basketball league
The EuroLeague Women competition is the highest level of women’s basketball in Europe, and DAZN subscribers around the world will soon be able to watch.
There are even more sports coming to the global sports streaming service DAZN. The streamer announced this week that it was partnering with EuroLeague Women, the highest level of competition for women’s basketball on the continent. The streamer will begin airing EuroLeague Women games around the world, including daily free games, and continuing all the way through the end of the playoffs.
Key Details:
- EuroLeague Women has 16 teams, and will henceforward play all regular season and playoff matches globally on DAZN.
- The league is using a new regular season and playoff format for the first time in 2024-25.
- Two EuroLeague Women games per gameday will stream free on DAZN.
EuroLeague Women offers 16 teams from across the continent. Thanks to the new deal between the league and DAZN, customers around the globe will be able to stream EuroLeague Women games live with a subscription, including in the United States.
“DAZN can offer leagues and federations what no one else can – unparalleled global reach via our digitally native, free and engaging environment,” said Hannah Brown, co-CEO of Women’s Sport ad DAZN. “We are delighted to be working alongside EuroLeague Women to build an exciting future for women’s basketball – one which has untapped athletic, fan and commercial potential.”
The deal will allow viewers around the world to see the new format EuroLeague Women is playing with this year. The league is currently in the midst of the first round of its regular season. After the round concludes, the bottom four teams will be relegated to EuroCup Women. The remaining 12 teams will move to the play-in round, then to the Final Six starting in April 2025.
“We are thrilled to partner with DAZN, a global leader in sports streaming, to further elevate EuroLeague Women,” said FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa. “This agreement aligns with our strategic vision to strengthen women’s basketball by bringing our top-level competition to an even broader audience, showcasing the incredible basketball talent in Europe.”
Two matches from every EuroLeague Women game day will be made available to stream for free. The rest of the games will be watchable with a DAZN subscription in most territories around the world where the service is available. In the U.S., a DAZN subscription starts at $20 per month.
There has been a concerted effort to deliver more women’s basketball coverage to fans in the U.S. and around the world in recent months. The NBC Sports free streaming channel will begin airing free women’s college basketball games on Thursday, Nov. 21, and TNT recently struck a new agreement to begin broadcasting three-on-three women’s basketball from Unrivaled. The WNBA agreed to a broadcast deal worth $2.2 billion with ESPN, NBC and Prime Video this summer.
