Burrow into the details for the new comedy series ‘Dig’
The show will reunite Amy Poehler and Mike Schur, who made magic together on the set of ‘Parks& Recreation.’
Do you find yourself re-watching “Parks & Recreation” over and over? The show’s feel-good vibes are thanks in no small part to the brilliance of producer Mike Schur and star Amy Poehler, who are coming back together for a new comedy series called “Dig.” The show is guaranteed to bring big laughs when it premieres on Peacock, and we’ll share all the details we have about it so far below!
Everything you need to know about ‘Dig’
When will ‘Dig’ be released?
Peacock announced in early May 2025 that “Dig” was receiving a series pickup. That means the show is still in the early stages of production overall, and while a late 2025 release is technically possible, it seems far more likely that fans will have to wait until 2026 to see it.
Where will ‘Dig’ stream?
“Dig” will be a Peacock original series, and at this point it seems unlikely that the show will be available on the linear NBC channel — though it’s not impossible.
What will ‘Dig’ be about?
“Dig” follows four women at very different points in their lives as they work at an archeological dig in Greece. The critical moment comes when they unearth a long-buried secret, which could rewrite global history as we know it. They soon find themselves in the middle of an international conspiracy that none of them are fully equipped to deal with.
Who will star in ‘Dig’?
So far, the only confirmed cast member for “Dig” is Amy Poehler. With Schur and Poehler working on the series together, however, there’s a good chance that some incredibly talented comedic actors will be brought along — potentially including performers from shows like “Parks & Rec,” “The Good Place,” or “The Office,” all of which Schur had a hand in.
Is ‘Dig’ based on a book?
Yes, “Dig” is based on Kate Myers’s novel “Excavations”. Myers also serves as co-executive producer for the show.
How closely are Schur and Poehler collaborating for ‘Dig’?
Very closely! Schur and Poehler are co-writing the pilot episode for Dig and executive producing it as well. This is the first collaboration between the two since “Parks & Rec” went off the air in 2015.
Will you be able to stream ‘Dig’ for free?
No. “Dig” will be a Peacock exclusive — or so it appears — and Peacock does not offer a free trial to new or existing subscribers. The cheapest way to watch will be with a subscription to the streamer’s ad-supported Premium plan, which costs $8 per month as of the time of this writing.
