‘Clueless’ is getting a reboot! Here’s what we know so far
Alicia Silverstone is attached to the newest attempt at a reboot of the beloved film ‘Clueless.’
It’s been 30 years since “Clueless” first arrived in theaters, but as audiences know full well, intellectual property in Hollywood never dies. A new “Clueless” TV series is now officially in the works, and has landed at NBCUniversal’s streamer Peacock for development. We’ll give you all the details we know about the series so far — including whether or not any stars from the original film are set to appear — below!
Everything you need to know about ‘Clueless’ reboot series
Where will ‘Clueless’ reboot stream?
Peacock is developing the series, and will host it when it’s eventually ready to air. The original “Clueless” movie was released by Paramount, which decided to take the rights to the new show to the marketplace instead of developing it in-house.
Amy Heckerling, who directed the 1995 movie, is back to serve as executive producer. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are writing the script alongside Jordan Weiss.
Are any original ‘Clueless’ stars in the new show?
Alicia Silverstone is returning to the series as Cher Horowitz, and is also serving as executive producer for the show. There is no word yet on whether other actors from the original film will be back, but many have gone on to great fame, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the series try to lure them back.
The movie also starred Stacey Dash, Paul Rudd, and Donald Faison, all of whom could potentially come back to play a part in the series. Brittany Murphy, another co-star of the original film, passed away in 2009.
When will ‘Clueless’ TV show come out?
There is no word yet on when the new “Clueless” show will come out. Since the series is still in the initial development phase, it will almost certainly not be released before 2026, at the earliest.
Can you stream the original ‘Clueless’ now?
As of April 2025, the “Clueless” movie is not available to stream with a subscription on any service. You can rent it on Prime Video and other transactional on-demand platforms starting at $4, but you will not be able to watch it with Paramount+, Netflix, Peacock or elsewhere at the moment.
The 1996 series based on the movie is also not available to stream with a subscription for the time being, but as the release of the new series nears, that could change.
