What is ‘The Paper’ about?
“The Paper” is a mockumentary series in the style of “The Office.” The same documentary crew that showed audiences the inner workings of Dunder Mifflin Scranton has found a new subject to follow: a historic Midwestern newspaper in Toledo called The Truth Teller. The paper has fallen on hard times, but a new publisher is in charge and eager to pull The Truth Teller back into relevancy.
Who stars in ‘The Paper’?
“The Paper” stars Domhnall Gleeson as an idealistic new employee of The Truth Teller, Sabrina Impacciatore as the paper’s managing editor, and Oscar Nuñez as Oscar Martinez, the former accountant from Dunder Mifflin who has found a new role for himself in the same position in Toledo.
The show will also star Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key.
Who is the production team for ‘The Paper’?
“The Paper” has been co-created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman. Daniels helped develop “The Office” for American television, and the creators of the original British version, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, also serve as executive producers, along with Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas.
How does ‘The Paper’ connect to ‘The Office’?
“The Paper” is set in the same on-screen universe as “The Office,” and the same doc crew that brought Dunder Mifflin into the living rooms of audiences will be filming the employees of “The Truth Teller.”
Oscar Martinez is the only character from “The Office” confirmed to return for “The Paper,” and the show likely doesn’t want to bring too many former stars of that series back until it establishes itself as a new series in its own right.
Will ‘The Paper’ be free to stream?
No, viewers will not be able to watch “The Paper” for free. As of now, it’s set to be a Peacock exclusive, and Peacock does not offer a free trial to new or existing subscribers. The cheapest way to sign up for Peacock is with its ad-supported Premium plan, which costs $8 per month or $80 per year.
