Dick Vitale, Charles Barkley join forces for 2 game broadcasts
Two of the most legendary figures in the sport are partnering to call a regular season game in December, plus a First Four game in 2026.
It’s always a must-watch game when legends collide in the sports world, and on Monday, TNT Sports announced that two of the biggest names in basketball broadcasting are joining forces. ESPN’s Dick Vitale will team up with TNT’s Charles Barkley for two college basketball broadcasts this season, uniting the two superstars on the same screen for the first time.
Key Details:
- Let’s share: Vitale and Barkley will combine to call a game on both ESPN and TNT in the next few months.
- Playoffs, too: The pair are uniting on ESPN for a regular season game, and on TNT for a First Four matchup.
- Streaming options: Fans will have the choice to watch the games with or without pay TV.
Vitale is partnering with Sir Charles for a pair of game calls between now and March. The first is a tilt between the current No. 25 Indiana Hoosiers and No. 19 Kentucky on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 13. Play-by-play voice Dave O’Brien will join Barkley and Vitale and the broadcast table.
The iconic basketball figures will reunite to call a game from the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament First Four on TNT Sports channels, bringing their expertise to the postseason as well. The exact date and time for the broadcast of this game have yet to be announced, but it will definitely be on truTV.
“Dick and Charles are two of the most entertaining and iconic voices in basketball, so having them together on the same broadcast is a true gift for fans,” ESPN executive Burke Magnus said. “We are thrilled to have it come to fruition, especially for a marquee college basketball rivalry game like Indiana-Kentucky in primetime on ESPN.”
Viewers will be able to stream both games live without a cable subscription, should they choose. Any live content on ESPN linear channels can now be streamed with an ESPN Unlimited subscription for $30 per month, and games appearing on TNT Sports channels are available on HBO Max ad-free plans starting at $18.49 per month.
“This is a unique opportunity for Dick and Charles, two of the biggest personalities in the game to be side-by-side calling games for the first time,” TNT Sports executive Craig Barry said. “This is great for the game and the fans; we can’t wait to see what unfolds.”
