DIRECTV now offering Netflix for free to some Gemini device customers
Customers who elect to receive their DIRECTV Genre Pack subscription through a Gemini device can now enjoy a free Netflix subscription for 12 months.
DIRECTV has been making major efforts to give subscribers more access to streaming entertainment content. Some of the service’s Genre Packs are bundled with streamers like AMC+, Disney+, ESPN Unlimited, HBO Max, and Hulu, and on Wednesday, DIRECTV announced a new partnership with the biggest streaming service of them all. New DIRECTV customers can now sign up for a Genre Pack and get a year of Netflix included at no extra cost.
Key Details:
- On us: DIRECTV is now offering a year of Netflix included with DIRECTV Genre Packs.
- Your choice: The offer is good with any Genre Pack, but viewers must receive the plan through a Gemini device.
- Less friction: Gemini will make it much easier to jump between DIRECTV channels and the Netflix app.
DIRECTV’s agreement with Netflix means that new subscribers can choose from any of its Genre Packs — the MyNews, MyKids, MySports, MiEspañol, or MyEntertainment plans — and get a year of Netflix’s Standard with Ads plan at no additional cost. It’s a $108 value, and it’s free to all new Genre Pack subscribers, with one big caveat.
Viewers who want the no-cost year of Netflix from DIRECTV will have to opt to receive their plan through a Gemini device. That comes with a fee of $10 per month on top of the package price, but it offers a great layer of convenience for watching your channels and streaming apps all in one place.
To get DIRECTV’s new tandem offer with Netflix:
- Click here to go to the DIRECTV website.

- Choose the Genre Pack you want.
- Netflix and a Gemini device will be added to your cart.

A Netflix subscription will allow viewers to watch a huge selection of original shows and movies, licensed titles, and an increasing number of live sports. Current hits on the streamer include the final season of “Outer Banks” (releasing Aug. 20), blockbuster movies like “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” and bingeable favorites like “Seinfeld”.
DIRECTV Genre Packs range in price from $21 to $65 per month individually, and subscribers can also pick a bundle of the MySports and MyNews packs for $80. The plans each focus on the type of channel mentioned in their name, excluding other genres in exchange for a lower price. With a Gemini device, viewers will be able to move easily between the channels in their Genre Pack and streaming apps like Netflix. All the content is arranged in the same interface, so it only takes a few clicks of the remote to shift away from live channels to on-demand entertainment.
