The platform’s new Genre Packs are a highly customer-friendly option, allowing viewers to pay far less than the standard pay-TV plan to watch channel packages centered on the particular type of programming they care about most. From sports to news to entertainment, with the launches of the first handful of packs throughout the spring, DIRECTV was able to offer something for almost everybody. Now, the live TV streaming service is looking to cross another very particular part of the viewing public off its list. On Thursday, DIRECTV announced that it was adding a new Genre Pack; the new MyKids Pack is available now.

The MyKids Genre Pack costs $20 per month, slotting it in as the cheapest Genre Pack that DIRECTV is offering, following the MySports ($70 per month), MyEntertainment ($35), MyNews ($40), and MiEspañol ($35) Packs. Each genre-specific channel lineup is built to deliver only the content that viewers want to watch, without extra networks to weigh them down.
The pack includes 13 channels from multiple different media outlets, including Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Paramount Global. Alongside the announcement of the MyKids Pack, DIRECTV announced that it had reached a deal with Paramount to bring a wide variety of the company’s channels to the Genre Pack family.
But that’s not all that MyKids subscribers will get. Continuing the trend that DIRECTV fought for last fall, the genre pack will include a free subscription to the ad-supported Disney+ Basic plan.

The Streamable first reported that a kids-focused streaming plan could be on the way on Wednesday, so this announcement was not a complete surprise. DIRECTV had announced in September 2024 that a child-focused channel package would be forthcoming, however, it appears that the streamer needed to solidify its kid-friendly offerings before rolling it out to the public.
It’s been a big day for DIRECTV; not only did the addition of the Paramount-owned channels make the MyKids Pack a possibility, but they also will have a significant impact on the robustness of the other Genre Packs. The streamer has been singularly focused on the number of choices it offers customers, and now it is providing a family-first option with the MyKids Genre pack.
