Sling TV may not offer a free trial, but it does still come with amazing value.

Cheaper isn’t always better when it comes to buying a new product or service but getting a free trial to test out that new purchase is always a plus for customers. That’s true of live TV streaming services as well, but Sling TV is among the platforms that don’t offer new customers a free trial, but that doesn’t stop it from being one of the best value picks in the line up of live TV services The Streamable covers.

That’s because Sling TV almost always has a first-month discount available to new subscribers, such as its current deal allowing new customers to take 50% off their first month of service. But Sling also has some of the lowest monthly rates of any live TV streamer; more on that below.

What Plans Does Sling TV Offer?

Sling offers two base plans, and customers can also decide to combine the two streaming plans into one.

Sling TV has two base streaming plans: the Orange plan and the Blue plan. Each has a regular monthly price of $40 per month and carries around 40 cable channels, and both plans offer top channels like AMC, CNN, Comedy Central, TNT and more.

If you opt for the Orange plan, you’ll get ESPN and its sibling networks in addition to the base channel lineup. The Blue plan is better for viewers who want to stream news networks like Fox News or MSNBC, and also carries local channels such as ABC, NBC, and Fox in select markets in the United States. All Sling plans come with 50 hours of DVR space, or you can quadruple that amount for an extra $5 per month.

Otherwise, customers have the option of switching between the two plans at no cost if they want to watch a network only available on the other package. Sling also comes with numerous, optional add-ons costing between $5 and $21 per month if you want to tack on extra channels to your plan.

Sling also offers a free streaming platform that all viewers can watch, whether they’re paid Sling subscribers or not. Sling Freestream allows viewers to watch hundreds of free ad-supported TV (FAST) channels dedicated to every genre under the sun, and even provides 10 hours of DVR storage at no cost.
