Great American Living Rebrands to Reflect Purchase of Faith-Based PureFlix Streaming Service
Great American Media has been on a bit of a rebranding spree lately as the cable channel owner has recently been making moves to reflect its purchase of the faith-based streaming service PureFlix. Initially, this led to the company putting its entire streaming operation under the name of Great American Pure Flix. Now, the company is changing the name of one of its cable channels from Great American Living to Great American Faith & Living.
- Great American Living rebrands as Great American Faith & Living.
- New version of the channel will incorporate faith-based programming into existing titles.
- How can you stream both of the Great American cable channels?
In a Deadline exclusive, Great American Media CEO Bill Abbott said that the move is in response to the success that the company has seen from the initial integrations of the faith-focused programming from PureFlix. Before the rebrand, Great American Living was home to series that featured different ways that people live in America, especially when it comes to the outdoors. With shows like “Going RV,” “Tiny House, Big Living,” “First Time Flippers,” “Aloha Builds,” and “Mountain Mamas,” the channel had adopted a bit of a DIY flavor that will now be integrated into the faith-based content from PureFlix.
“Given the enormously positive reaction from subscribers to Great American Pure Flix and the ongoing growth of Great American Family, now is the perfect time to sharpen our focus on our second linear channel,” Abbott told Deadline. “Great American Faith & Living fills a void in the marketplace, and we are confident viewers will enjoy a strong mix of content that brings the highest quality faith programming in the genre.”
Prior to the rebranding, Great American Living served as the unscripted companion to Great American Family, a channel that presents family-friendly programming throughout the year, including their annual Great American Christmas slate of original films. Great American Pure Flix offers around-the-clock access to faith-based films and TV series designed for the whole family to watch and enjoy; including the company’s most recent original film “Harvest Homecoming” which debuted last weekend and starred favorite stars Trevor Donovan and Jessica Lowndes.
What’s the Cheapest Way to Stream Great American Family, Great American Faith & Living?
Great American Media is hoping that the newly minted Great American Living & Faith will follow in the footsteps of the company’s flagship cabler, Great American Family. The channel, which has become the biggest competitor to the Hallmark Channel, has been the fastest-growing cable channel for the past 10 straight months. Both of the Great American channels are available on a host of live TV streaming services, including the cheapest options in the market.

If you are looking exclusively to stream family-friendly programming, like what you can find on the Great American and Hallmark channels, Frndly TV is a great option. After a seven-day free trial, a subscription will only cost $7.99 per month. Of course, the way that the streamer keeps the price down is by offering only a limited number of channels. So, if you need a little more on your channel lineup — but still don’t need local, sports, or news outlets — Philo might be the one to go with. The platform also comes with a one-week free trial, and will run $25 per month and has 18 of the top 35 cable channels, while Frndly only has four.
The cheapest option to consider that includes both of the Great American cable channels, but also has the major broadcast networks, along with sports and news channels, is Sling TV. While the service does not offer a free trial, depending on how you set up your plan, you can get up to 27 of the top 35 cable channels. However, you would have to upgrade to the Heartland Extra package for an extra $6 per month.
Sling offers to base packages, the Orange and Blue package. To subscribe to either will cost $40 per month, and to get both will run $55 monthly. Sling does offer a 50% discount on your first month, so you could stream Great American Faith & Living — as well as many other broadcast and cable channels — for as low as $26 for the first month.
