What devices can you use to download TV shows and movies on Apple TV?

Apple TV allows for TV show and movie downloads on mobile devices and tablets only. Android and Apple phones can both download titles via the Apple TV app, but viewers cannot download TV shows or movies on Apple TV or other streaming devices, laptops, or smart TVs.

How long can you download content for on Apple TV?

Apple TV doesn’t have a specific published limit regarding the number of TV episodes and movies you can download at any one time. Downloads on Apple TV expire 30 days after they are first pulled from the Apple TV app. If they do expire, however, you can always download them again.

How to download TV shows and movies on Apple TV

To download a title on Apple TV:

  1. Find the vertical three-dot menu underneath the art for the TV episode or movie you want to download.
  2. Tap it, and find Download in the drop-down menu.

  2. Find Downloads in the menu at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap the downloaded show or movie you want to stream.

Is all content available to download on Apple TV?

Apple TV is different from many other streaming services in that it does not have a large catalog of licensed TV shows and movies from other studios. Most of its library is original titles, and that being the case, there are fewer restricted titles that cannot be downloaded.

This doesn’t mean that all movies will be available to download 100% of the time with Apple TV, but there will be fewer TV shows and movies that can’t be downloaded on this service as compared to some others.
