The 2024 U.S. Senior Women’s Open golf tournament tees off this week from Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The first round gets underway on Thursday, Aug. 1, with the tournament running through Sunday, Aug. 4. However, TV coverage doesn’t kick off until Saturday, Aug. 3. The field of 120 players of the world’s best professional and amateur senior female golfers over the age of 50 will have their hands full at Fox Chapel. Open in 1923, this will be the first time the course hosts the U.S. Senior Women’s Open, where lag-putting will be key on the difficult greens.

Included in the field of 120 women will be five previous U.S. Senior Women’s Open champions, including the only American to win the tournament: Jill McGill. She took the top spot in 2022 at NCR Country Club in Dayton, Ohio, shooting three under par to beat Leta Lindley by one stroke.

The other women looking to make it two U.S. Senior Women’s Open include Laura Davies (2018), Helen Alfredsson (2019), Annika Sorenstam (2021), and last year’s winner, Trish Johnson. The field will also include 22 women making their U.S. Senior Women’s Open debut, including eight-time champion on the LPGA Tour (with two majors), Sherri Steinhauer.
