Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Los Angeles Chargers on YouTube on Friday evening.

On Friday, Sept. 5, the NFL will attempt an experiment that it has never tried before. The league is preparing to stream a game on YouTube for free — not the pay-TV service YouTube TV, the free YouTube streaming platform. The game will be between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs, and will start at 8 p.m. ET. Outside of Kansas City and Los Angeles, the only way to watch is to stream it free on YouTube.

Everything you need to know about Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Why we recommend watching the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers on YouTube

YouTube is the exclusive host of the Chiefs vs. Chargers game from São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday evening. You won’t be able to watch the game anywhere else if you don’t live in the television markets of the two teams playing, but you won’t have to pay a cent to watch the game on the service.

If you live in Kansas City or Los Angeles, you can also watch the game on local broadcast channels. The NFL frequently puts streaming-exclusive games on regular television in the markets of the teams playing, so check your local listings if you’d prefer to watch on linear TV.

Can you watch Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers for free?

Yes, you can! YouTube never requires a subscription fee to watch its platform, though you will have to watch the game with ads, just like on regular TV. You don’t even need an account to watch videos on YouTube, though if you do have one you can subscribe to your favorite pages and enjoy more features.

About Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chiefs vs. Chargers game will see the NFL return to Brazil — though hopefully the field will be in better shape than it was last year. The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a season that saw them make it to the Super Bowl, only to be crushed by the Philadelphia Eagles and see their dreams crushed. Patrick Mahomes and company are back

The Los Angeles Chargers also made the playoffs in 2024, though they didn’t make it past the wild-card round last year. Quarterback Justin Herbert will be counting on an enhanced run game thanks to the drafting of Omarion Hampton this year, but will they be able to slay the AFC West dragon that is the Chiefs?

Keep in mind that you will still need to have access to YouTube in order to stream the game with a VPN.
