Here’s how to stream President Trump’s address to the nation
The president is expected to discuss what he believes to be his greatest accomplishments so far in 2026 and provide an update on the war in Iran.
On Tuesday, the White House announced that President Donald Trump would address the nation during primetime on Wednesday, April 1. While the exact details of the speech are not yet known, the president is set to discuss the ongoing conflict in Iran while also touting his administration’s efforts across the board during the first quarter of the year. The address will begin at 9 p.m. ET and is expected to last approximately 20 minutes. All four broadcast networks will carry the address, as will presumably the major cable news channels as well. If you would like to sign up for a live TV streaming service to watch the address, I recommend going with a five-day free trial to DIRECTV.

When does President Trump’s primetime address air?
According to Trump’s own social media channels, the speech will begin at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 1. The address is slotted to last roughly 20 minutes, but with all live speeches, start time and duration are subject to change. All four of the broadcast networks will be cutting into their primetime programming to cover the address, with shows either being paused or delayed to accommodate the president speaking to the nation.
Why do we recommend DIRECTV to watch President Trump’s primetime address?
There are two primary reasons why I recommend using DIRECTV to watch President Trump’s April 1 address. The first is that the service offers a five-day free trial to everyone signing up for service. That is the longest standard trial length in the industry. While others might offer you longer free periods (more on that momentarily), they are not guaranteed like DIRECTV’s is.
Secondly, last year, DIRECTV launched a series of genre-specific channel packages to more efficiently cater to the specific needs of individual cord-cutters. One of those skinny bundles is the MyNews pack. This channel lineup is perfect for news junkies who don’t have much need for live sports, dramas, comedies, movies, or reality TV. MyNews comes with up to 19 channels, including all four broadcast networks in most markets around the country. After the free trial expires, the plan runs just $40 per month, far cheaper than paying for a regular live streaming channel lineup.

DIRECTV
DIRECTV is one of The Streamable’s top choices for the best live TV streaming service overall in 2026, especially for users who want the most channels or want to watch the most live sports. With an unbeatable lineup of local, news, sports, and entertainment channels, three main signature packages, an unlimited DVR, and 20 simultaneous streams at home, DIRECTV remains a premier choice for any cord-cutter.
Can you watch President Trump’s primetime address for free?
In addition to the DIRECTV free trial mentioned above, four other live TV streaming services provide a free trial of varying lengths that will allow you to stream the president’s address. If you are looking for the longest possible trial, it is worth checking out YouTube TV. The largest streamer on the market, YouTube TV, is currently offering up to 21 days free, but it is not available to all customers. So, if you want to see if you qualify for the full three weeks, you will have to go through the sign-up period. But, for three weeks without having to pay, it might be worth it.
Behind DIRECTV, Hulu + Live TV has the longest guaranteed free trial, coming in at three days. While relatively short, it does also provide free access to the Disney Bundle, including Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN Unlimited. Finally, Fubo offers a free trial from one to seven days, depending on individual customer criteria.
