'Ted' Season 2 drops on Peacock on Thursday, March 5.

It’s time to go back to 1994 because the foul-mouthed bear is back. All eight episodes of “ted” Season 2 drop Thursday, March 5, and yes, it’s still wildly inappropriate in all the ways you’d hope. The live-action prequel to the “Ted” films takes us back to Ted’s teenage years living in Framingham, Massachusetts with 17-year-old John Bennett and his extremely Boston family. If you liked the movies because they were dumb, sweet, and aggressively filthy all at once, this show absolutely understands the assignment. Here’s how to watch.

Everything you need to know about ‘ted’ Season 2

When will episodes of ‘ted’ Season 2 come on Peacock?

“ted” Season 2 premieres Thursday, March 5 on Peacock, and all eight episodes drop at once. No weekly wait on this one, just eight somewhat filthy, probably funny episodes ready to go.

Why do we recommend Peacock for watching ‘ted’ Season 2?

Because it’s the only place the show lives. “ted” is a Peacock exclusive, so if you want Season 2, that’s your destination. You’ll need the $11 per month Premium plan with ads or the $17 per month Premium Plus plan if you want to go ad-free.

Season 1 became Peacock’s most-watched original title when it launched, so this is clearly one of the platform’s flagship comedies. If you’re already subscribed, this is an easy hit play. If you’re not, this is exactly the kind of drop-all-at-once binge that makes a one-month signup worth it.

Can you watch episodes of ‘ted’ Season 2 for free?

Nope. Peacock doesn’t offer a standard free trial right now, so you’ll need a paid subscription to watch. The good news is that all eight episodes are available on day one. So if you just want to binge the chaos and bounce, you can sign up for a month, power through Season 2, and cancel before your next billing cycle. Personally, I found a pretty good deal for Peacock on Black Friday of last year, so I’m locked in for the rest of the year. Keep an eye out for deals.

What is ‘ted’ Season 2 about?

“ted” is a prequel to the films and finds us in the mid-’90s after Ted’s brief fame has faded. He’s back home in Framingham, Massachusetts, living with his best friend John Bennett and John’s family. Ted is still loud, crude, and hilariously inappropriate, but underneath all that he’s also fiercely loyal.

Season 2 drops us into senior year of high school. John is awkward and likable, Matty is the blustering blue-collar dad who thinks he runs the house, Susan is sweet to a fault, and Blaire is the outspoken cousin who’s constantly clashing with the more traditional family mindset. It’s classic dysfunctional-family comedy, just with a talking teddy bear in the middle of it all. And the whole thing leans hard into that chaotic ’90s energy.

How to watch ‘ted’ Season 1 before ‘ted’ Season 2 drops

If you somehow missed “ted” the first time around, now’s your moment. All eight episodes of Season 1 are streaming on Peacock right now, and it’s an extremely easy binge. And if you’re wondering what’s next after that, Peacock is also expanding the universe with “Ted: The Animated Series.” The upcoming animated show picks up where the original films left off and brings back Seth MacFarlane as Ted, along with Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, and Jessica Barth reprising their movie roles. There’s no premiere date yet, but if you’re planning a full Ted marathon, Season 1 on Peacock is the place to start before Season 2 drops and the animated series eventually joins the mix.

It’s 1993 and Ted the bear’s moment of fame has passed, leaving him living with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett, who lives in a working-class Boston home with his parents and cousin. Ted may not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, he’s willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family.
