The team behind ‘All Her Fault’ has a new Peacock mystery

The team behind ‘All Her Fault’ has a new Peacock mystery

Megan Gallagher’s ‘The Break-In’ follows a mother digging into a home invasion that may not be random.

With a background in film and branded content, he covers sports and entertainment with sharp insight and creativity. A longtime Oilers fan, he’s still holding out hope for a Stanley Cup run.
“The Break-In” is the new mystery limited series from “All Her Fault” creator Megan Gallagher on Peacock.

Peacock is getting back into the domestic mystery business. Tara and I watched “All Her Fault” all the way through, and it really worked for us. It kept us guessing, the cast was great, and the twist near the end actually floored me instead of feeling like a cheap rug pull. And now Peacock has announced that the same creative team is coming back for another female-led, book-based mystery limited series. This new one is called “The Break-In,” and it sounds like exactly the kind of messy domestic thriller I want: a perfect-looking life, one awful night, and a whole bunch of secrets that probably should’ve stayed buried. Here’s everything you need to know about “The Break-In.”

Everything you need to know about ‘The Break-In’

When does ‘The Break-In’ come out?

There’s no premiere date yet for “The Break-In.” Peacock has ordered the limited series, but production hasn’t started, and we don’t know when it’s going to hit the streamer. But the important thing is that it’s real. Peacock has officially picked it up; we just have to wait for the big markers now: casting, filming, trailers, and an actual release date.

Can you watch ‘The Break-In’ for free once it starts streaming?

Probably not. Peacock doesn’t currently have a regular free trial, so you’ll most likely need a paid subscription when “The Break-In” premieres. Peacock Premium costs $11 per month with ads, while Peacock Premium Plus costs $17 per month and gets rid of most ads.

There’s also a cheaper Peacock Select plan for $8 per month, but don’t get tricked by that one if you’re here for this show. Peacock Select doesn’t include Peacock Originals, movies, or sports, so it won’t help you watch “The Break-In.” For this one, you’ll need Peacock Premium or Premium Plus.

Peacock

Peacock is a subscription video streaming service from NBCUniversal that includes original shows, blockbuster movies, and classic television series. Peacock is home to “Yellowstone,” “The Office,” and original hits like “Poker Face” and “Bel-Air.” You can also watch live sports and NBC programming, including the NFL, MLB, WWE, the Olympics, the Premier League, NASCAR, the French Open, college football and basketball, and the PGA Tour. Premium Plus subscribers can stream their local NBC feed in all 210 markets.

…

Peacock also includes news, entertainment, sports, late-night, and reality from various NBCU properties, including NBC, Bravo, and E!. Additionally, Peacock has exclusives like “Below Deck: Down Under.” They also include live and on-demand access to Hallmark channels.

The company has acquired the rights to many classic shows, including “Parks and Recreation” and the entire Dick Wolf library, which includes “Law & Order” and “Chicago Fire.”

Peacock features weekly Sunday night NFL games during the regular season, available on the Premium and Premium Plus plans.

Peacock again raised prices on August 18, 2026, with the cost of plans increasing to $8.99 for the Select, $12.99 for Premium, and $19.99 for Premium Plus.

The service also features blockbusters and critically acclaimed films from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, Illumination, as well as content acquired from Hollywood’s biggest studios.

What is ‘The Break-In’ about?

“The Break-In” follows Alice Rathbone, whose life blows up after a terrifying home invasion. Everyone else seems ready to call it random and move on, but Alice isn’t buying it. Something feels off. So, naturally, she starts digging, which is always a terrible idea in these shows and also exactly why we watch them.

In Katherine Faulkner’s book of the same name, Alice is hosting a playdate at her nice London home when a disturbed man breaks in. Her child is nearby, Alice panics, and she kills him. Later, it’s ruled self-defense, but then things start getting weird. Strange comments pop up online. Alice gets a mysterious phone call telling her that everything isn’t what it seems. Her husband, her nanny, and her friends all start acting suspicious. So now Alice is stuck wondering who this man really was, why he came into her house, and whether the people closest to her know way more than they’re saying.

Who stars in ‘The Break-In’?

Nobody has been announced yet. Peacock hasn’t revealed any cast for “The Break-In,” which makes sense since the show is still early.

But the Alice role is going to be huge. This whole thing basically lives or dies on whether we believe this woman unraveling in real time. I imagine it’s similar to Sarah Snook’s role in “All Her Fault.” She has to be scared, guilty, suspicious, angry, and probably a little obsessive without turning into someone you stop caring about.

Who is making ‘The Break-In’?

“The Break-In” is written and executive produced by Megan Gallagher, and that’s the big reason this one is worth paying attention to. Gallagher created, wrote, and executive-produced “All Her Fault,” so Peacock is clearly trying to keep that momentum going. But this isn’t “All Her Fault” Season 2, and it’s not a sequel either. It’s more of a spiritual follow-up — same kind of engine, same creative team, new book, new characters, new nightmare.

Is ‘The Break-In’ based on a book?

Yep. “The Break-In” is based on Katherine Faulkner’s domestic mystery novel of the same name. Faulkner used to work as an investigative reporter and editor, and she was also Head of News at The Times. She’s also the author of “The Other Mothers” and “Greenwich Park.”

Is there a trailer for ‘The Break-In’?

No, there’s no trailer yet. Since “The Break-In” hasn’t started production, it’s probably going to be a while before Peacock releases any footage.

For now, the move is to watch “All Her Fault” on Peacock. It’s not the same story, but it’ll give you a pretty good idea of what this team does well: tense family mysteries, secrets stacked on secrets, and the feeling that no one is telling you the whole truth.

All Her Fault

November 7, 2025

In Chicago, Marissa Irvine arrives at 14 Arthur Avenue, expecting to pick up her young son Milo from his first playdate with a boy at his new school. But the woman who answers the door isn’t a mother she recognizes. She isn’t the nanny. She doesn’t have Milo. And so begins every parent’s worst nightmare.
