‘The Copenhagen Test’ brings brain hacking and Simu Liu stunts to Peacock
Simu Liu stars as an analyst whose hacked mind pulls him into a nonstop spy nightmare.
Simu Liu is diving straight into paranoia territory in “The Copenhagen Test,” a sharp new espionage thriller that asks a pretty wild question: what happens when you realize your brain’s been hacked? Liu plays Alexander Hale, an intelligence analyst who suddenly figures out someone out there can see and hear everything he does. Every moment. Every conversation. Every secret. He has no idea who’s behind it, and now he’s stuck pretending everything’s normal while trying to flush out whoever’s destroying his life from the inside. With Melissa Barrera, Sinclair Daniel, Brian D’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien, and Kathleen Chalfant in the mix, this one feels like a big win for Peacock. It drops Saturday, Dec. 27, and here’s how to watch.

Everything you need to know about ‘The Copenhagen Test’
When will episodes of ‘The Copenhagen Test’ come on Peacock?
“The Copenhagen Test” premieres Saturday, Dec. 27 on Peacock. All eight episodes of Season 1 land at once, which is great if you like to settle in and binge something tense without waiting week after week. Grab your snacks and let the paranoia roll.
Why do we recommend Peacock for watching ‘The Copenhagen Test’?
Easy answer. It’s the only place the show lives. “The Copenhagen Test” is a Peacock exclusive, so that’s where you’ll find every episode. You’ll need either the $11 per month Premium plan with ads or the $17 per month Premium Plus plan if you want it ad-free. Peacock has been stacking some great thrillers lately, like “The Day of the Jackal” and most recently “All Her Fault” starring Sarah Snook, and this feels like another solid add to that lineup.
Can you watch episodes of ‘The Copenhagen Test’ for free?
Nope. Peacock doesn’t offer a standard free trial right now, so you’ll need a paid subscription to watch. The good news is that the whole season drops at once, so you can sign up for a single month at $11, binge the entire thing, and cancel if you want. My wife and I tend to keep Peacock around because the originals are great, and you get next-day NBC shows, but that’s up to you.

Premium Plus subscribers can stream their local NBC feed in all 210 markets.

What is ‘The Copenhagen Test’ about?
“The Copenhagen Test” follows Alexander Hale, a first-generation Chinese American intelligence analyst whose life flips upside down when he discovers someone has hacked directly into his brain. Not his phone. Not his laptop. His actual mind. Whoever did it can see what he sees and hear what he hears, which means he’s basically living inside his own surveillance nightmare.
Hale has no clue who’s behind it. His agency thinks he might be compromised, the hackers clearly want something from him, and now he’s caught in the middle with no idea who he can trust. He has to put on a full-time performance, pretending he’s not aware of anything while trying to smoke out the people pulling the strings.
Who is in ‘The Copenhagen Test’?
The cast is stacked, with Simu Liu leading the show as Alexander Hale. If you don’t know how good he is with his own stunts, just watch “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” Then you’ve got Melissa Barrera as Michelle, Sinclair Daniel as Parker, Brian D’Arcy James as Peter Moira, Mark O’Brien as Cobb, and Kathleen Chalfant as St. George.
Is ‘The Copenhagen Test’ based on a book?
Nope, but I had to double-check myself because it sounds like it is just based on the premise. “The Copenhagen Test” isn’t based on a book. It’s an original story created for TV by Thomas Brandon, so everything you’re watching comes straight from the writers’ room rather than an adaptation of existing material.
