Is Fubo worth it for anyone but sports fans?
Is Fubo worth it for anyone but sports fans?
A Fubo subscription seems great for viewers who want to be super-served live sports, but how good is its value, truly?
Everything is getting more expensive in 2026, and streaming services are no exception. It can be incredibly difficult to know how to allocate your entertainment budget effectively these days, especially if you’re a sports fan; no matter how expensive it is to stream entertainment content, live sports always cost more to watch.
If you’ve cut the cord because you want to save money on your TV package each month, you may be considering the switch to Fubo. Sports fans love Fubo because of the availability of regional sports networks (RSNs) and global soccer channels that are difficult to find elsewhere.
But a Fubo subscription can get expensive, and it may not have 100% of the channels that American sports fans prize. So, is a Fubo subscription worth it? We’ll break down the service and give our opinion below to help shoppers make an informed choice on their next pay-TV plan.
Is Fubo worth it?
What is Fubo?
Fubo is a live TV streaming service that delivers many of the same channels you can find in standard cable packages. The service was first launched in 2015 to be the “Netflix of soccer,” and still offers hard-to-find global soccer channels like GolTV, Tigo Sports, and others in its plans.
Over the years, Fubo has evolved to be a more all-around streaming service, with entertainment and news networks in its packages. But it’s still a sports-first streamer, and is one of the few on the market that provides a large selection of RSNs.
How much does Fubo cost?

Fubo has one specialized channel package that includes only sports and news networks, but that’s its only genre-based plan. It’s called Fubo Sports, and it costs $56 per month, not including any introductory offers the streamer may have at a given moment.
On the core packages front, Fubo offers the Pro and Elite plans of 200+ channels each, starting at $74 per month. These packages also come with non-optional regional sports network fees of up to $17 per month for customers who receive an RSN with Fubo in their area.
Fubo also has a Latino plan with 50+ Spanish-language channels for $15 per month. English sports channels like ESPN and FS1 are not included, but options like ESPN Deportes are available in the package. All Fubo plans except the Latino package come with free subscriptions to ESPN Unlimited.
| Fubo plan | Regular monthly price | Channel count | RSN fee? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fubo Sports | $56 | 25+ | No |
| Fubo Pro | $74 | 200+ | Yes |
| Fubo Elite | $84 | 250+ | Yes |
| Fubo Latino | $15 | 50+ | No |
Which top cable channels does Fubo have?
Fubo offers many of the top cable news, sports, and entertainment channels in its various packages, but there is a notable exception. Since 2020, Fubo has not offered TNT, TBS, or truTV, thanks to an ongoing carriage dispute with Warner Bros. Discovery. Both Fubo and WBD have changed ownership since then (WBD is about to change hands for a second time), but the dispute continues.

Does Fubo have local channels?
Fubo carries ABC, CBS, and Fox in its Fubo Sports genre plan, and also carries The CW in its Pro and Elite packages, depending on market. Local PBS stations are not available on Fubo, but it’s unlikely the streamer’s target audience will spend much of their week seeking out public television over live sports anyway.
A more notable absence from the Fubo lineup is NBC. In late 2025, a carriage dispute between Fubo and NBCUniversal knocked NBC off the streamer, and there is no resolution in sight. The absence of NBC means Fubo subscribers will miss out on NBA, MLB, and NFL games, as well as NASCAR races, college football and basketball, and more if the dispute is not settled in the coming months.
Is Fubo a good value compared to other streamers?
The answer to that question really depends on how big of a sports fan you are. If you value being able to watch your local MLB, NBA, or NHL team on a daily basis, Fubo is an excellent value, since it allows you to watch regional sports on the same service as top cable channels. Fubo’s Pro plan with the RSN fee tacked on costs less than DIRECTV’s CHOICE package, so viewers who rely on the programming from RSNs will definitely want to give Fubo a long look.
Fans who enjoy nationally televised sports may find Fubo a bit expensive for their tastes, especially with the gaps in its programming. Fubo has even lowered its base prices as a result of losing NBC, but the absence of that channel and TNT Sports networks means national sports fans are missing a lot of top events.
So, is Fubo worth it?

At the moment, the only way we can recommend Fubo as a worthy investment is if you’re a sports fan who loves global soccer or in-market sports games. Fubo is a great value for such fans, as it delivers channels that are hard to find elsewhere at a pretty reasonable price, relative to other distributors.
Otherwise, we have to answer the question with a firm no. The loss of TNT Sports was a big blow to Fubo’s value overall, and without NBC, there are too many gaps in its sports offerings to ignore. Fubo sells itself as a first stop for sports fans, but how can it make that argument effectively if it doesn’t have the NBA playoffs of “Sunday Night Football” on NBC, or the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament on Turner channels?
These networks may come back to Fubo someday, and if they do, the service will deserve to be reevaluated. But until then, we think you can safely choose another live TV streaming service unless you want access to global soccer games and regional sports more than anything else.
Fubo
Fubo is a live TV streaming service offering a robust lineup of approximately 150 premier channels, with plans starting at $63.99 per month. This entry-level package provides access to local broadcast affiliates 18 of the leading 35 cable channels channels, and valuable regional sports networks (RSNs).
