A best-in-class multiview is my favorite feature of YouTube TV

A best-in-class multiview is my favorite feature of YouTube TV

The streamer gives viewers a customizable multiview to watch sports and other programming on up to four channels at once.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.

With more than 10 million subscribers, YouTube TV is essentially the most formidable pay-TV distributor on the market. It got to its position by offering a channel package stuffed with favorite cable networks — including local broadcast channels — as well as a slick user interface that makes it incredibly easy to use.

The popularity of the YouTube TV interface is in large part due to the number of features it offers. One of the best features that YouTube TV offers is multiview, which allows customers to watch up to four games at once and even lets viewers customize their lineup with non-sporting events.

Other streaming services offer their own version of multiview on specific devices, or during key events. Peacock, for example, offered a multiview during the 2024 Olympics, and also provides the feature during some English Premier League match days. Fubo has come the closest to YouTube TV’s functionality with its multiview, but its customizable four-square screen is still in beta and is only available on select Roku devices.

YouTube TV’s multiview, on the other hand, is the only customizable one widely available to consumers on a range of devices. It first started as a way to help viewers watch live sports, and during events like an NCAA Men’s or Women’s Basketball tournament or an afternoon of watching NFL Sunday Ticket, YouTube TV customers can swap games in and out until they find the exact mix they want to watch.

In 2025, YouTube TV expanded its multiview further, allowing customers to actually swap their own mix of cable channels in and out of their multiview experience. Our expert Matt Taminini is a frequent user of YouTube TV’s multiview, and acknowledged this update as a game-changer for an already impressive feature.

Perhaps best of all, the ability to build a customized multiview is available on a long list of smart TVs and streaming devices. It isn’t found everywhere; for example, web-based YouTube TV watchers can’t use the customizable multiview option. But if you want to watch up to four channels simultaneously on the biggest screen in your house, you can do so with YouTube TV on a great selection of devices.

Multiview is an extremely useful feature, and YouTube TV has taken its multiview further than every other streamer on the market so far. While the streamer still has further to go, it has taken multiview to an impressive height, and it’s easy to label it as our favorite feature of YouTube TV.
