NBC announces broadcast plans for 2026 Winter Olympics
The XXV Winter Olympic Games will once again stream every event on Peacock.
The 2026 Winter Olympic Games begin on Feb. 6 of next year, and NBC doesn’t feel like waiting any longer to announce its exciting plans to provide coverage of the games. The Olympics will be held in Milan and Cortina, Italy, and all live coverage will be on NBC platforms, including Peacock. As it did for the Paris games in the summer of 2024, NBC will provide incredibly comprehensive coverage of next year’s Winter Olympics.
Key Details:
- All events of the 2026 Winter Olympics will be available on Peacock.
- “Gold Zone” and multiview are also returning to Peacock for the games.
- NBC will host the “Primetime in Milan” show featuring top events each night.
Just like for the 2024 Summer Olympics, Peacock will offer each and every event of the 2026 Winter Olympics live. Viewers in the United States may have to stay up late or wake up early to watch certain events as they happen, but it’s still an unrivaled level of access to The Games.
Also returning for the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics is “Gold Zone,” a whip-around show that will take viewers to the most exciting events and competitions happening at any given moment. Current and former NFL RedZone hosts Scott Hanson and Andrew Siciliano headed up “Gold Zone” for the 2024 games, but NBC’s press release did not specify if they would return to host next year.
Additionally, Peacock’s coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics will bring back the streamer’s multiview. First introduced for last year’s Olympics, Peacock’s multiview allows viewers to listen to the audio of whichever feed they want, though as of last summer, they were not able to fully customize which events were included in the multiview. There is no word yet on whether multiview will be more customizable for Peacock this time around.
On the linear side, NBC will present a nightly primetime show called “Primetime in Milan,” which shows viewers the top events, stars, and stories from a given day’s action. NBC will also carry the best live events during the day, and coverage will also be offered on USA Network.
The 2024 Olympics brought nearly 3 million new subscribers to Peacock, suggesting the streamer’s coverage plans were highly effective. Given that data, it’s little wonder that it will be rolling out many of the same features for the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
