Salish and Jordan Matter team with Netflix on new content deal
The duo will create new and exclusive content for the streamer, which is continuing its efforts to compete with YouTube.
Netflix knows its real nemesis in the battle for the attention of viewers is YouTube, not other on-demand streamers like Disney+ or HBO Max. YouTube continuously bests Netflix in monthly engagement statistics, and the streamer is fighting back by attempting to import a wide range of talent formerly found on the social video platform. Netflix’s latest win along these lines is a new content output deal with YouTuber Salish Matter and her dad, Jordan.
Key Details:
- Family Matters: Salish and Jordan Matter have a new content creation deal with Netflix.
- Variety of content: The father-daughter duo will develop scripted, unscripted, and animated series for the streamer.
- Podcasts and more: Netflix has pulled a wide range of content from YouTube in recent months.
With their new content deal now in place, Salish and Jordan Matter will create new, exclusive projects for Netflix, including scripted, unscripted, and animated series — all starring Salish herself. The Matters will also continue to develop their fan-favorite franchises, and while they will develop exclusive content for Netflix, they don’t appear to be shutting down their world-famous YouTube channel any time soon.
Salish won the 2025 Female Creator of the Year at the Kids’ Choice Awards. The 15-year-old first gained fame by appearing on dad Jordan’s YouTube channel, and the pair have since accrued billions of views with their weekly adventure videos.
“So many shows I love are on Netflix, and I can’t believe that soon I will have one of those shows,” Salish said. “It’s a super exciting opportunity, and I can’t wait to start filming!”
The partnership with Netflix will also include consumer products and experiential offerings. Netflix has made major efforts to position itself as a way for creators to level up from YouTube, signing talent, including kids’ entertainer Ms. Rachel, as well as a selection of video podcasts from the likes of Spotify and iHeartMedia.
“They’re unmatched in scale, vision, and global reach, and this collaboration allows us to expand the storytelling our audience already loves into new formats while staying true to the creative world we’ve built,” Jordan Matter said of the Netflix partnership.
